ationwide account in Protaras

Postby Louisebabe » Fri Aug 26, 2005 10:43 am

Has anybody used/using this card while in Cyprus, Protaras especially? We normally take Travellers cheques, but as you "lose out" buying them, then changing them in Cyprus, we are thinking of using the "hole in the wall" while on holiday. Somebody has advised me that if you are with the Nationwide, they provide you with a card which charges nought interest abroad, if you withdraw from a cash machine. Has anybody used this card?

Don't know if they still do this or not, but go to the Bank of Cyprus in England and ask them about the commision free travellers cheques. What this does is if you want lets say £500 (Cyp), then you pay whatever the exchange rate is at the time to get your £500 (Cyp). When you come to Cyprus, just go to any bank of Cyprus, and if you give them a travellers cheque for £50, you get £50 back in cash.

Nationwide

I have used a Nationwide Flex Account all over the world and it works fine - no charges at all for ATM withdrawals or direct debit visa payments... Am headed to Protaras next week - assume there are lots of ATMs throughout the town???

Hi sharon. I know there is a cash machine near to McDonalds on the "Strip" in Protaras, and from other people who have been to Protaras, there will be quite a few around, so you should be fine. Where abouts in Protaras are you stopping in Protaras Sharon? We are going back next year to the Andreotis, which arejust 400metres away from Fig Tree Bay. :P Weve previously stopped at Marlita Beach (Pernera) and Maouris apts, which were actually located right opposite the Andreotis, where we will be staying next year. Cant wait!

Hi Louise,

I'm staying at the Brilliant Apartments - think they're about 5-10 mins walk from Fig Tree Bay (according to info on web!) Havent been to Protaras before - been to Paphos region a few times, this will be first time over this side of the island!
Thanks for info re: banks - its much easier than taking travellers cheques/loads of currency away!

Cheers

Hi Sharon-the Brilliant apts are just across the road from the Andreotis, a bit further down! You are no more than 5minutes away from FigTree Bay. If its your first time to Protaras you will love it, im sure.
