I think it's going to rain in a few minutes. My prayers have been answered. :)

Move south, very hot in New York last week, Sunday to Wednesday. I was told it hit 91 degrees one day

Same weather here last week, but then that's my point. As the saying goes: "New England weather: If you don't like it, wait a minute."

Wonder if they are similar in American English?

Phrases like ... it's raining cats and dogs, or it's chucking it down etc.

Some of the idioms are similar, but rather than "chucking," "pouring." Chucking connotes "puking," "praying to the porcelain god," etc.

ah but in Britain one throws up, when speaking to God on the great white telephone - that is why the "down" is so significant in describing the meteorological concept - we do however "Up-Chuck" for the vomitting..

On the waeather front I am just praying for a dry early July in the UK

Don't think we've seen rain on more than a couple of days in the past couple of months. Hope it doesn't turn out to be another summer like 1976, when as some will recall, along with record-breaking temps, it didn't rain for months. Far too hot... bottom line is heat and sun are best kept for CY.

Nooooooooooooooooo - we have enough heat and sunshine as it is thank you very much young Bill! :o

What a difference a week makes.
Today we hear news of an official drought in some areas, but thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain in some parts of London.
Not seen proper sun for a while now......and the garden loves the rain :)

Yes, completely diff these past few days... so much so, that can say bleeding weather, far too cold and wet.

Had thunder and lighting here in London a few hours ago with quite a cloud burst.

Think I'll put the central heating on tonight,... by the way of a thick wooly jumper.
