Protaras has excellent beaches. If you want to spend your vacations in a tourist resort with most of the day being on the beach then Protaras is perfect. Paphos has more history, better 5 star hotels and more things to do but the beach is not as nice. But I will agree that Limassol is the best if you want good beaches (not as nice as Protaras though), good hotels (as good or even better than Paphos), lots of historical places, good night life and a central location to explore a lot of Cyprus, including Troodos.

I'll ask my friends they might know!

That's because Cyprus has the best beaches in the EU, reliable airports, and foreigners can communicate in English.

Can put in a few good words for Larnaca please...

5 mins from the airport, 20 from Nic, 30 from the night-life of Agia Napa.
Nice and long Phinicoudes Promenade.
Pretty decent beach.
Mixture of bars and restaurants, some for visitors and loads of CY restaurants.
Very compact visitor area, all very walkable with a number of shopping streets a stroll away from the beach.
