You can use a VPN with UK IP, or you can try this http://unblock-us.com/ which will give you access to BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Hulu etc.

Most TV Station sites will try to restrict internet viewing to their normal geographical broadcast area: they do this by reading the IP address, which identifies where you are.

Unblock us works for BBC iPlayer, the new BBC iPlayer Desktop, which provides limited down load facilities to store programes (max 30 days then 7 days to watch after first viewing) also live streaming and also ITV, C4 and C5. Cost is USD5 per month.

Set up is easy. They also claim to work with games consoles, IP ready TV's and other internet connected devices.

You can even get a free UK VPN connection...

From Control panel....

Click Network and Internet, click Network and Sharing Center;
Click Set up a new connection or network, then Connect to a workplace;
Select option No, create a new cnonection, then Use my Internet connection (VPN);
In the Connect to a workplace window, use these details....

PPTP Server: ukpptp.hotfreevpn.com

in Next window, use free as User name field, and use 1234 in the Password field, then click "Connect" button to start the free VPN connection!

For a US VPN connection, follow the exact steps as above, but for PPTP server, use this....

PPTP Server: uspptp.hotfreevpn.com

Just curious does this link work in the Cyprus?:
http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/comedy

This the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) iview player.

Most broadcasting is recycled pommie crap from the BBC. So expat poms in Cyprus may be able to click on and watch re-runs of shows like On the buses or whatever you poms think is funny.

The link works, but you can only download/watch stuff if due to your ancestors light-fingers you live in Oz.

Hi Hazza,

I'm holidaying in Paphos next month, so I've tried to get a UK VPN working. However, I can't set it up - it doesn't recognize the PPT server address. Has that changed or is their something I've missed?

Thanks,
Mike
