There is absolutely NOTHING Greek about Cyprus; in fact nothing Greek even existed anywhere in the world when the Phoenician foundations of Cyprus were laid and the ancient kingdom of Cyprus flourished in the Med.

You can cry till the cows come home but history and facts cannot be modified to suit your delusions!

What you CAN claim however if it makes you feel better, is that you (personally) are somehow related to Plato, Homer, and Archimedes because your great, great, great, great…grandmother was some kind of prostitute and had sexual relations 500 miles away with those famous people (who were not even Greek btw) for your solace!

We are happy with that hypothesis for your PERSONAL STATUS but please steer clear from manufacturing bollocks about the true ancient ancestors and inheritance of true Cypriots!

And btw, please get a map and start examining it.

Sometimes (ok most times), you can be a right tosspot. Maybe you are a by product of a bloodline of whores from your great x4, leading up to recent mother, but do judge everyone else by your own sordid standards.

We say Greek, you pillock, as opossed to Turkish and if you cannot understand the context, may I suggest you go back to elementary school and F catch up this time.

Hade assirktir kotsire.

I don't care!

Cyprus’ true indigenous inheritance is DIRECTLY from the Levant (the territory of modern Lebanon and Israel) which is only a stone’s throw away from here, and no amount of contemporary nonsense can ever change that!

Like I said, you PERSONALLY may well be the descendant of [insert here whichever ancient “Greek” names excite you the most] but the ACTUAL indigenous people of Cyprus are descendants of people from the Levant.

No amount of foreign political manipulations can ever change that.

Individuals need to understand that they have the right to claim a direct ancestry with anyone they wish so take your pick…

Mahatma Gandhi
Yuri Gagarin
Winston Churchill
Elvis Presley
Archimedes
Albert Einstein
Laurel & Hardy
Etc, etc, etc

For example…

Piratis is convinced that he is the heir to Poseidon and feels happy living next to the sea.

Sotos, believes he is the descendant of the Goddess Aphrodite and so observes his beauty in the mirror all day.

Kimon, is convinced that he is the direct descendant of Kolokotronis and so keeps his grandpa’s old musket under his bed just in case!

…and so forth. And I am very happy for them BUT...

Cyprus as a nation with her Cypriots as her people, CANNOT collectively manufacture nonsense!

The Cypriot migration basically goes… Ethiopia > Levant > Cyprus

The Cypriot people basically were… Ethiopians > Phoenicians > Choirokitians > Sotirans > Modern Cypriots

Greece/Greeks belong to a different part/region of the world some 1000Km away from Cyprus and have their own unique gradual development.

We need to separate apples from oranges…

Having said all that I strongly encourage our “Greek” forum friends, who today unfortunately find themselves among the lost Hellenic tribe on Cyprus, to PLEASE feel free to move to Greece next to the Acropolis and dwell among your fellow Hellenes for that special pride and feeling! 8)

DO NOT allow our little Middle Eastern Levantine island hold you back from the aggrandizement that awaits you back home! :)

problem is, gr! many of them aren't there any more. they're here in london, spending the money they swindled from their fellow hellenes; or else (if they have any real drive and talent) working to bolster the uk economy, instead of helping to rebuild the economy of their motherland. i come across both types.

wot's left in greece are the dregs. bit like cyprus, after the 1950s. it's very sad.

indeed, there's only one thing sadder than a greek, at this moment in time; and that's a cypriot who's still convinced he's a greek.
