According to CyBC 6 O'clock news, one of the oil storage tanks at Vasilikos Power Station is on fire and they are trying to stop it spreading.

Be prepared for more power cuts!!!

Πυρκαγιά στον ηλεκτροπαραγωγό σταθμό του Βασιλικού

Πυρκαγιά ξέσπασε πριν από λίγο σε ντεπόζιτο καυσίμων στον ηλεκτροπαραγωγό σταθμό του Βασιλικού. Στο ντεπόζιτο γίνονταν διεργασίες για επιδιόρθωση.

Στην κλήση ανταποκρίθηκαν πυροσβεστικά οχήματα του σταθμού της Λάρνακας, της Λεμεσού και της ΕΜΑΚ.

Στον ίδιο χώρο υπάρχουν 6 συνολικά δεξαμενές καυσίμων χωρητικότητας 33 χιλιάδων κυβικών ποδιών έκαστη. Τέσσερις εκ των οποίων χρησιμοποιούνται για αποθήκευση μαζούτ και δύο για ντίζελ. Η φωτιά ξέσπασε σε ένα από τα ντεπόζιτα αποθήκευσης μαζούτ, το οποίο περιείχε υπολείμματα του εν λόγω καυσίμου.

I saw the black smoke when I was driving home and I suspected that it must be at that area again. The first thing I did when I got home was to check Politis and Philenews to see whats going on but none of them mentioned anything.
