Recommendtation for internet provider?

Postby Trader J » Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:28 pm

What is the best internet service provider in the Peyia area?

What I am looking for:
continuous use of the internet (I am a Trader)
reliability of the internet connection - no disconnections or "resets", no interruptions
streaming video must be possible - no buffering of data before data are send, no interruptions etc
high upload speed (and download speed)
good customer service in case something goes wrong

I would appreciate any experiences or suggestions.

Which area do you live in? What sort of download speed are you expecting? Is it only internet you want or did you want phones/tv package to go with it?

As the phone lines are provided by cyta only there is not a huge difference between different providers, however other providers tend to be slightly cheaper providing you are willing to wait longer for them to set up your internet access once cyta has installed the phoneline. As far as disconnections go the internet providers tend to give out thompson routers which are the basic home veriety which which do cut out from time to time for a few minutes or need resetting. there are "tweeks" that can be done to minimise the impact of these interuptions or you can simply purchase (and configure) a superior router.

Can you give a little more detail about the level of video streaming your aiming for? is it just to do e.g. video conferencing via skype or a similar conferencing program or are you looking at a more professional higher quality stream? If so a single broadband connection will not do the trick and you will need to look at other alternatives, but I cant make suggestions without knowing a bit more about it.
