Bulgaria used to have a population of 3 million out of 7 million
Iran has 15 million
Afghanistan has in millions - Any body remember General Dostum Rashid? and his Northern Army.
Iraq also have Turks. Interestingly they tried to get the Iraqi Turks to do in Iraq what Dengtash did in Cyprus and they refused.

Why are you paying so much attention to the workings of one idiot in the minister of education. You should concern yourselves with the history bull being taught to our children in our own country. Now that may actually give sight to a few of our blind fanatic friends.

That's good news YFred. 500 million Turks can easily solve the energy problem. At least until the end of this century. :)

Schoolchildren in Istanbul have received multimedia school aids, which say that Turkey’s territory includes the entire Armenia, some regions in Iraq and certain regions in Bulgaria, as well as the Greek part of Cyprus and several parts of Georgia.

Turkish expansionism continues!

Turks in Turkey are gradually becoming "brain dead" society with the amount of time they spend in front of the TV watching brain dead programs all day and night, starting with the never ending brain dead soap operas, which may run for 2-3 hours at a time each, and there are many of them, with very poor "acting" and brain dead scripts, where 50% of that time is used for commercials. I was in Turkey for a week couple of weeks ago and I was shocked the amount of useless and brain dead programs people are watching most of their time, including dinner times and even during when visitors arrive. In fact, the visitors are too watch it with the hosts, almost demanding it. Out of the hundreds of programs available on the TV, I only saw one educational program once, which was National Geographic that was dubbed in Turkish. No foreign programs in foreign languages, other that 2-3 news programs. No wonder Turks are terrible in speaking English, world's language. They are terrible at trying to speak English.

Therefore, it does not surprise me that people will believe everything they are told in schools, radio, TV or your next door neighbour, just because the Turkish society is in a "suspended animation" it seems most of the time. That's how Erdogan & Gang are able to pull the wool over the Turkish society's eyes with their never ending on how great Turkey is in everything, even when it is not, because people do not know any better. No wonder my niece who was born and lived in Turkey all her life and has a husband and 2 children said to me one day, "Uncle, I don't like Turkey anymore. I want to move to another country in Europe if I want the best future for my children. This country is not good for them". I can see why she feels that way. Fortunately for her, she will be able to move to another EU country if and when she wants to. The vast majority of Turks are stuck watching those brain dead soap operas day in and day out. Poor Souls.

This is what my niece is talking about.

This is what the Fascists in the north want for the TCs in Cyprus under Turkey.

Students sentenced to eight years for banner in Turkey

Two students who staged a protest in 2010 to demand free education were sentenced to eight years and five months in prison yesterday by a Turkish court.

The students, Berna Yılmaz and Ferhat Tüzer, unfurled a banner reading: “We want free education, we will get it,” during a meeting between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Roma citizens on March 14, 2010.

Berna Yılmaz and Ferhat Tüzer have already spent one and a half year in jail under arrest. They were released in October 2011, after the previous prosecutor of the case, Kasım İlimoğlu, requested the students’ acquittal, arguing their act was constitutional and fell within the limits of the freedom of expression.

However, Prosecutor Adem Özcan, who replaced İlimoğlu following his appointment to the case, demanded on March 9 that the students, Ferhat Tüzer, Berna Yılmaz and another suspect Utku Aykar, be sentenced on charges of membership of a terrorist organization. Ferhat Tüzer, a mechanical engineering student at Trakya University, Berna Yılmaz, an anthropology student at Ankara University and the other suspect Utku Aykar opened a banner demanding free education during Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s meeting with the Roma community in March 2010.

Tüzer and Yılmaz were subsequently arrested but later released after remaining behind bars for 18 months, while Aykar was tried without arrest.

So much for their declared reforms huh?
They have miles to go, Cyprus or not, they are not fit for the EU membership.
I think it is time the EU identified this and told turkey to put up or shut up.

Its funny how it is supported by the US 100% though. Although if they wanted free education they could get it in one of the madrases set by Gulen, but of course the job they will be doing is rather limited.

Although I must admit there is progress. In the old days they would not have seen the light of day again. Similar to Cyprus in the 60s and the Treatment of Turkish Cypriots by the RoC.
