What is the usual Cypriot postal service?
Is it just the holiday villas that don't have post boxes?

Is the post handled in the same way as it is here in the uk?

Sorry for asking such a dumb question but i am thinking of moving to cyprus and to be honest have never seen a "post office" or a "sorting office" of any kind,

or do they just have po boxes?

thankx

They use carrier pigeon...anything else would be against the Christian Orthodox religion.

There is post offices and also many people have Po boxes there.
I used to live in a village and the postman brought the post as usual.
No letter boxes on the houses though as usually someone is either home to receive the letters or the postman meets the people in the village. I had a letter box installed as I wasn't home that much and all worked fine. :-)

You have to use Vitamin-Q enriched bird pellets to feed you pidgeon otherwise they get sluggish and take two weeks to deliver that printer you ordered off ebay.

It seems they don't use Vitamin-Q since it does take 2 weeks! :D

Hi Blonde Godess

Most people have PO Boxes; the Postpersons here are usually young folk on mopeds, dressed in jeans or guys driving double cabs - and tend to be the 'weakest link' in the delivery chain. (I can understand their problem: often roads have no names, properties no numbers and sometimes no roads but just rough tracks Also, they cannot keep up with the pace of property development/population).

PO BOxes cost around 22 pounds pa. A Best Buy!
