Some measures RoC should take until a solution is found

Propose and discuss specific solutions to aspects of the Cyprus Problem

Ethnic cleansing, genocides and stealing what others created is what the Turks excel at. Go learn what those terms mean and then come back to talk.

Another one of your sweeping racist generalizations.

If there can be no justification for those actions, then I guess you should agree that Turkey should have never invaded, since those actions happened only after the Turkish invasion. So why do you justify the invasion?

Why are you answering my question with another question?
Simply answer this: is the turkish invasion a justification for the killing of innocent turkish cypriots?

I answered already. Since you want it more clearly: no it was not. Those killings however were organized by paramilitary groups, not from the state or our leadership. On the other hand the ethnic cleansing against us and the killing of 6000 people was organized by the Turkish state and by the TC leadership.
So now answer my question:
If there can be no justification for those actions, then I guess you should agree that Turkey should have never invaded, since those actions happened only after the Turkish invasion. So why do you justify the invasion?

What you are saying is that I should not condemn those GCs that killed innocent TCs but rather the turkish invasion, because those GCs were "forced" to kill their compatriots by the invading turkish army.

So why do you justify the invasion?

I do not justify invasion or the killing of innocent people. I wish turkey had intervened to secure the rights of GCs as well, then it would have been perceived in a completely different light but unfortunatealy it didn't and many GCs left their homes.

What I am saying is that it sounds hypocritical when you shout about those murders while you keep silent for the 100 times worst crimes that Turkey and TCs did against GCs and they continue to do until today.

I do not justify invasion or the killing of innocent people. I wish turkey had intervened to secure the rights of GCs as well, then it would have been perceived in a completely different light but unfortunatealy it didn't and many GCs left their homes.

If Turkey cared to restore constitutional order as it was her duty as a guarantor then everything would be fine.
However instead of that Turkey did a full scale invasion with the aim of occupying part of Cyprus, stealing our land, and performing ethnic cleansing. For the 1974 invasion and the 31 years of occupation there is absolutely no excuse.

LET'S FACE REALITY

Postby Vassos1 » Thu Nov 03, 2005 3:14 pm

I think we Greek Cypriots are clouded with what the real issue concerning Cyprus today. Turkey is obviously filtering a large amount of Turks, disguising as Kurdish refuges, into our Republic of Cyprus. Also Turkey is very happy to sit back and wait for the population of Cyprus to one day swing towards the Turkish side. I think that we should cut loose from these Turks now while we’ve got the chance, before we are faced with another pointless power-sharing formula. If we continue to seek a “unification” policy, we will no doubt one day become the minority. Remember, under EU law, we will have no choice but to accept these people as “Refugees”. Let’s cut loose from them officially now before we suddenly wake up to a Majority Turkish population.

1. I am trying to make our Greek Cypriot community, and others, understand the importance of a two-republic formula. The only soltutuion to Cyprus is that of two-states, self autonomous and one of 18% and the other of 82% (perhaps a waver of 22% / 78% if you feel generous).

2. Long live the ROC refers to the continuation of the Republic of Cyprus as a democratically elected country that is free of occupation forces, threats and the maintaince of Peace. And, that can only be achieved with a formula based on two states; The Republic of Cyprus (Greek Cypriot), and The Republic of Northern Cyprus (Turkish Cypriot). The removal of Turkey from the equation.

3. Partners and Compatriots; Do you mean the ones that Papadopoulos was referring to before the April 2004 referendum. Please, I speak of the realities of the Cyprus situation and not some mythical desire to see all peoples on the Island speaking Greek, Turkish or English. One Republic speaks Greek, and the other Speaks Turkish. That is the reality and that is what will happen.
