Yes, although this is a thread about rubbish can we try and keep your rubbish out of it please Blobbo... throw yours over VP's wall.

This is the disgusting scene from the grounds of a state hospital in the Occupied Part of Nicosia from a day or two ago...

A mountain of festering rubbish taking over the car-park.

So much for VP's assurances that the situation was being cleaned up...!!!

You seem to be enjoying the crisis face by the council workers due mismanagement of council funds, why?

Thank you for confirming that there is a "crisis" but never you mind my motives VP, they ain't important.

What matters is the Reality on the Streets of "trnc" .

Now you tell us why you have told us porkies to the effect that the situation was under control, that a clean-up was under way, when the truth is out, that the actions are spreading to water and electrical supplies, the piles of festering rubbish are getting bigger, the Rubbish Regime are having CY workers roughed up and arrested and CYs have again taken to the streets in their thousands, trashing the UBP ruling party HQ along the way.

By the way, the scale of the deficit in the Occupied Part of Nicosia is 200 Million TL...!!! (100 Million USD), only a spreader of porkies would have us believe that that MEGA AMOUNT is simple "mismanagement of council funds" .

Isn't the truth VP that the situation is a MEGA AMOUNT of BREAKDOWN of the laughing stock now referred to by CYs in the Occupied Areas as the Rubbish Regime...???

The council had agreed with unions who represent the workers that they return to work which is what happened and the clean up had started but when the expected salary payments were not made the workers went back on strike and are currently taking the action they are to get their salaries paid, they almost struck a deal last week but the unions would not meet 3 weeks cost of the striking workers so everything fell through once again.

As for the electricity issue, its about time the electricity board made those pay for back dated electricity usage, they have collected 50 million in one week, so drastic measure of cutting the power of companies and government offices that do not pay produces results.

Now tell us about the economic crisis in the south and the economic measures that have to be taken to prop up your ailing economy .

There is one point I would like to inform you on about the councils in the south its only a matter of time before they face the same crisis as the one now happening in Lefkoşa.

Porkies VP... more porkies... only the workers in the revenue collection departments, office workers of the "municipality", went back to work.

Look at that picky of the Rubbish piled up at the Hospital... a priority area that clearly hasn't been cleared or touched for months...!!!

Given your history of telling porkies your new claim of power bills being paid will need investigation.

Your concern is misplaced as you do not live in the TRNC and know people who work for the council who can give you first hand information that means you know jack shit. These strikes happen all over the world dont go far look at Greece.

Now tell us about the crisis developing in the south and what tight measures has Troyka imposed on the GCs?

...a world problem, its happening in Greece, stuff like this is normal? indeed, half the world at this moment has no water or a regular food source; that's a.o.k.? the same; i'll say, i remember Solomou: deny all you want vp, it does not make the corruption, and undisciplined incompetance, any less.

"Turkish enough", means returning to the backwater Cyprus became under the Ottoman Empire, i don't doubt that the worst element of the north's society are welcome by the Authority for their brash Patriotism toward Turkey, they would fit very well with the Army and its (illegal) occupation, little room (less room) for Free Thought, or merit.

This is how the Press Office of the Republic reviews the press reports in the Occupied Areas over the past couple of days in their reports of the breakdown in "trnc" and the anarchy on the streets of the Occupied Part of Nicosia, a succinct report for English-speakers...

Tension escalates in occupied Lefkosia; “Police” arrest 22 protesters; Kucuk refers to “terrorist actions”; General strike to be held today
Under the title: “Is this the way it should have been?”, Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (28.12.12) reports that the employees in the “municipality” of the occupied part of Lefkosia, who have not received a salary for months, held yesterday an “unprecedented” activity. The “police” tried to stop the protest, which was headed by the trade union of the “municipal” employees (BES), and from time to time “behaved brutally”, according to Kibris. Some protesters were injured and 22 trade unionists and employees were arrested by the “police”. The chairman of BES, Savas Bozat and the member of the union’s administrative council, Mustafa Yalinkaya were among the arrested.

The employees of the “municipality” first marched towards the “prime minister’s” office, and then towards the “district court”, the “assembly” and the headquarters of the “ruling” National Unity Party (UBP). The protesters emptied in the streets all trash bins, which they found in their way during their march. They managed to overcome the obstacle of the “police” and entered into the UBP headquarters, where they brought down and broke the party’s nameplate. When they could not find self-styled prime minister Kucuk, they changed the form of their protest. In front of the “assembly”, they clashed with the “police” and closed the roads using vehicles of the “municipality”. In front of the “municipality” they burnt tires and blocked the road. The “police” tried to disperse the angry employees by using batons.

Meanwhile, Kibris reports that the Trade Unions’ Platform decided to declare a 24-hour general strike for today with the aim of expressing support to the employees of the “municipality” in the occupied part of Lefkosia.

Right after the decision of the platform, the so-called council of ministers convened late last night and decided to ban the strike at the “civil aviation department” for a period of 60 days. Announcing the decision, self-styled minister of transport, Ersan Saner said their aim with this decision was to prevent any problems in the visits of tourists to the occupied area of Cyprus.

Commenting on the developments, the self-styled prime minister Kucuk argued that the actions of the trade union have been turned into “street terrorism”, that rights could not be demanded in such a way and that the incidents, which happened yesterday, are “a complete anarchy”.

Turkish Cypriot daily Volkan newspaper (28.12.12) covers the issue under the title “Lefkosia has been turned into a battle field” and reports that Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu made a call for restraint regarding the activities in occupied Lefkosia’s “municipality” and said that the problems should be solved through dialogue. The paper writes also that the leaders of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the Social Democracy Party (TDP) called on the “government” to resign and declare early “elections”, while the leader of the Democratic Party (DP) said that the incidents caused sorrow and the problem should be solved the soonest.

Turkish Cypriot daily Gunes newspaper (28.12.12), mouthpiece of the “ruling” UBP, covers the issue under the title “Terror”, while Yeni Duzen newspaper (28.12.12), mouthpiece of the “main opposition” CTP, uses the title “This is called uprising”.

Some other front-page titles used by daily newspapers are the following:...

Star Kibris: “The last episode of the disgrace”.
Kibrisli: “Climate for revolution in Lefkosia!”
Vatan: “The shocking activity turned the capital into hell!”
Halkin Sesi: “It fell into disorder”

If the violent protests in the north escalate at some stage the "authorities" may have to call on Turkish troops to keep a lid on the demonstrations. The ROC could get dragged into the dispute if TCs seek refuge in the south, perhaps the Turks have a cunning plan, God help Cyprus.

Happy New Year
