there is a big difference between the meaning of the word Freedom, when compared to Liberty.

a Unitary State can be Bicommunal if at another level of Government there is representation of Individuals, as Persons.

it is not complicated, and since the very beginning, the debate being so easily framed by its "Greekness"/"Turkishness", Cyprus as a Sovereign State, has been left dysfunctional. Cyprus needs the representation of Greeks as a Constituency, so that other Cypriot Constituencies can have an equal chance to sustain their distinctiveness and identity. Cypriots need a Republic to demonstrate their commitment to Universal Principals, as Human Beings (Individuals), Cypriots want to be Nationalists (Persons), although in Cyprus (having a very rich Cultural Heritance) many Nations nurture living relics.

...indeed, one has to be proud to stand for such an ideal. Cypriot is what other, if it is not, by hatred, to be torn in two.

claret, would you kindly comment on my manifesto thingy, it may be a great help to vp, who has had great difficulty understanding the (what i thought were simple) concepts in it...
...perhaps you can give your yea or nea point form for vp's benefit, as well. as you can see (the two sides) "we" are not that far apart.

...i might add Kikapu has a plan, Bicommunal, as well, which is interesting reading.

I have drawn my conclusions on VP's views having researched hundreds of his posts, one such conclusion is that he is much more a Turk than Turkish Cypriot, I doubt whether he would ever allow anybody to influence his preconceived views, I also understand that he was born in the UK of T/C parents, returning to Cyprus some years back. If all T/Cs shared his views, thankfully not, there would be very little hope, if any, of a united Cyprus sometime in the future.
He has a restrictive perception of what constitutes a nation, attaching great importance on " ethnicity" origins and considers any opposing views to his, as in the case of a fellow T/C kIKAPU, fundamentally flawed, unpatriotic and treasonous to his cause which clearly is the annexation of the occupied parts by Turkey, his beloved motherland.
You sir, are a genius, I know you live in Canada and you come across as a highly intelligent individual with one only setback. You are not fully aware of how wise you are, and how civil in all of your posts, something I can not say for some on this forum with thousands of posts to their names.
I stated earlier that my 100th post will be my last, I hope I will be privileged to read some more of your excellent, if not forcefully, presented posts. Your manifesto could only have been formulated by someone with your acumen, political knowledge and may I say experience.
I salute you sir.

...there is a barn and there are horses, what is your point vp? sounds bitter as satire, i imagine because you have no barn, and your horses are not yours.

claret, thank-you for the kind words. i am not that smart, many of my ideas are vp's as they are Dhavlos and so many others who cared as much to speak.

Reforming the judicial system and bringing it up to the point where a Tc is guaranteed "equality" under the law. And Cypriot politicians would finally have an answer to the Tc request of political equality.

BoC appoints chairman

BANK OF Cyprus yesterday announced that the transitional Board of Directors in its first meeting elected Sophoclis Michaelides and Erol Riza as Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively.

On Friday the Central Bank of Cyprus appointed the interim board that will oversee the restructuring of the BoC, the island’s biggest lender.

for the record...

...oh look, a Turkish Cypriot is Vice-Chairman.

more reforms which indicate a Cypriot view, first.
