Our government would be very foolish to accept a portion of the occupied territory because the enemy will then assume that it’s all hanky dory hanging onto the rest!

I'm with you on this one mate. Exactly my thoughts.

I agree too...not only will they think all is honky dory but most of our idiots will think the same

Well, there are an awful lot of idiots around boys and girls.

Most prominent amongst the idiots are Davutoglu and Eroglu of "trnc" , both of who joined a lot of other idiots in turning down the proposal of separating Occupied Varosi from the wider issue some days ago.

I'm with bill on this one. The issue of the return of Varosha is separate from a wider settlement. In fact, its whole point is to open up the possibility of a settlement by obliging Turkey to show good will. It doesn’t in itself change the status of the ROC. In fact it strengthens it by forcing Turkey to accept the Ankara Protocol and obliges the occupied areas to trade through Famagusta port under EU supervision. It allows the TCs to trade legally with the EU without compromising the sovereignty of the ROC.

And for that reason I think Turkey will reject a deal. Because Erdogan isn’t interested in the sovereignty of Cyprus but in domination and legalised partition. That has always been their aim.

simples vp, you give back Famagusta in good will, and the next round give back some more after having demonstrated that you respect EU supervision, and you recognise a Protocol where Cyprus exists, then ask about an upgrade of your so called Ercan.

So in short trust you to do the right thing...lets gets this straight we give you a city and we get a supervised port...doesnt seem balanced to me very one sided and exposed to GC manipulation.....dont you get it there is no trust between the 2 sides.

Excellent post if you don't mind BillC saying so Demon.

The other thing the less idiotic and more more devious amongst would have appreciated weeks ago about this "deal" was that Turkey would never have shown the good will that Demon refers to.

Turkey ... along with its puppet "trnc" , as well as the likes of VP and Vordo, were 100% certain to turn it down.

They were bound to show the same Bad Will that we've seen for 60+ years... didn't we all know that, FFS...!!!

Further, hasn't it been a sorely-missed chance to show some Unity knowing full well that the proposal was a no-risk one cos it was bound to be turned down...???
