indeed, what comes to mind is the pitiful state of the Monestary Andreas, and/or Barnabas. if these two were given the same respect, it would have gone a long way in demonstrating care, as Stewards of a Heritance, a 'People' who care.

...didn't happen, the glimmer of hope is that the roof has not caved in, and as tourist sights at least, they may receive attention before what's left is ruins.

No Stupido... we just expect Turkey to piss off so the CY Church can maintain and restore its own churches.

Where's your long-awaited and many times requested evidence to back up your ridiculous claims that hundreds of mosques have been razed to the ground and turned in to car-parks...???

This is turning in to quite an interesting thread about the good state of repair and the continuing use of mosques in the Free Areas of CY.

Do so hope CF readers are finding it informative.

Here's a picky of one in Limassol, the Cami Cedid Mosque, which according to its webpage...

"... This masjid has been opened for use on Friday for Jumu'ah prayers. The Friday Khutbah is read in English and can be repeated in Turkish if required. Built by Korprulu Ibrahim Agha in 1825, it is situated beside a stream and a Turkish graveyard. ... "

Has Fibbo turned up yet with his evidence to support his manurey claims that hundreds of mosques in the Free Areas have been levelled and turned in to car-parks... ???

Well, whilst we wait (and prob wait forever), here's one just stumbled across, a very interesting one cos of its size.

A small, very basic place of moslem worship called a masjid. ( Is that right...??? )

This one is in the Free Village of Anadiou, somewhere in Paphos District.

According to its web-page...

"... In the Turkish Cypriot village of Anadiou, just off the E703 past Kritou Marottou, Pafos District, is a small masjid which has been restored and repainted along with the rest of the village. The building is situated in the very centre of the village next to the coffee shop and is open to anyone. Those wishing to use the masjid will need to take their own prayer mats as there is no carpet in this building. ..."

You know I can find scores (100s) of churches and chapels listed all over the internet that have been desecrated in the north. Some sources quite comprehensive and well documented.

I'm struggling to find the lists of equivalent mosques in the south.

Yes, here it is. Another interesting one. A closed masjid in or near Polis, Chrysochous.

(Wonder what the difference is between a mosque and a masjid..???)

This used to be a church 'til it was converted.

It's web-page says...

" ... Located in Chrysochous near Polis, this masjid is also closed. Can be seen from the B7 main Pafos - Polis road. In the centre of the town is the barrel-vaulted church of Agios Andronikos which dates to the 16th century. This was turned into a mosque during the Turkish period, when the northern part was added to it. ..."

Ah... here we go Vordo, at last... finally found a car-park.

Oh, no, got it wrong, it's a masjid with a car-park.

This moslem place of worship in the Free Areas is the Lower Paphos Masjid

Webpage description...

"... This small building in a car park near bar street is 'Asagi Baf Camisi', Lower Pafos Masjid, and is the only open masjid for Pafos. It has recently been improved with the addition of a large covered outdoor area that has been glazed. The car park contains a cemetary at the opposite end...."
