You are quite right RW. Evkaf is one of the sources that has been consulted and with some interesting info that isn't covered above.

Later.

The list is very long and you have only covered a few of the mosques by producing a few dodgy pictures one of which backs up our claim is not sufficent and just typical of the bury your head in the sand syndrom.

Let's not waste any more time on the Mushroom VP who posted a decade-old list of the lowest possible quality and which has been proven to be a fabrication alongside the oft-repeated claims "that hundreds that hundreds of mosques have been destroyed and turned in to car-parks.

So let's move on to the matter of EVKAF which must be a very wealthy organisation with funds enough to maintain any number of mosques... or so we would think.

The truth is regretfully otherwise.

"trnc" uses the pious foundation of EVKAF as a cash-cow for its own proposes.

This is from the CY EVKAF web-site...

"... The Organizational Structure of Islamic Religion in Cyprus:

Directorate of Religious Affairs (Din İşleri Müdürlüğü): Board of Directors (5 Members)

A. Chief Mufti (The Muftis Office)
a. 3 Vice Muftis:
i. Imams
ii. 175 Mosques

B. Evkaf Organization (Evkaf Office)
a. Executive Director
i. Two Assistant Directors
1. Management,
2. Accounting,
3. Administration
[Mosques, Land, Houses, Hotels, Shops]

The government controls evkaf revenues through a Board of Directors. The cabinet appoints the Board every three years. (Members can be reappointed). The Board decides where to invest and how evkaf are to be used. The Chief Mufti and imams are not allowed to be board members. They are paid by the government out of evkaf funds. The Chieft Mufti is influenced by the Evkaf organization and that is controlled by the government. ... "

... which demonstrates that the finances of an allegedly pious and religious order come under the control of the corrupt "trnc" .

...found this:

...and this:

...and this the author's blog:

http://human-rights-archaeology.blogspot.ca/2009/09/us-helsinki-commission-hearing.html

no matter how you look at "Greek" denial, the "Turks" are leaps and bounds ahead of them, when it comes to ignorance. and either way there are others, Cypriot or who care, that exist and that work toward exposing what is a great loss to Mankind in general.

jeez vp, (where did you find that list), didn't get anything more than this in your defense; the rest from google would sicken you.

repulse can you see the repetitve pattern here, we TCs accept and condemn the desecration of churches in the north and even propose we restore to their former glory once a solution is found and the inhumane embargoes are removed we cannot get one GC or British chav to accept any desecration or tearing down of mosques in the south. This is the crux of the Cyprus problem.

...bullshit, because your "we", is nothing more than you. the willful destruction in the occupied north is institutionalised by the Turkish Army, and the proof is there. the damage in the south exists by individual acts of ignorance, and the efforts to at least prevent more damage is a government commitment.

...why not accept your own denial instead of the transference, why not accept that "Turks" and "Greeks" are no different, and that beyond your most simplistic generalisation there exists Greeks and Turks who are beyond the mouthpiece you are of a very hateful lot, as Human beings.

"this" must stop, don't you think vp?

One of the most comprehensive sites on the condition of pre-74 religious buildings in Cyprus is at cyprustemples.

A team of architects from the Cyprus Civil Engineers and Architects Association and the Chamber of Cyprus "turkish" Architects, from both sides of the cease-fire line produced the report.

Amongst their results, they give figures of the pre-74 religious buildings in CY as follows...

There are 620 religious buildings in Cyprus:
505 "Greek" Cypriot religious buildings
115 "Turkish" Cypriot religious buildings

Below are a couple more mosques in the Free Areas and an assessment of their condition, as it appears on their site...

On the Vuda Mosque, Kalo Chorio, Larnaca...

" ... Structure: Very Good

Facade: Very Good

Roof: Very Good

Interior: Very Good

Decoration: Very Good

Mass: Preserved

Humidity: Existing Mark

On the Kouklia Mosque, Paphos District...

Structure: Good

Facade: Very Good

Roof: Good

Interior: Good

Decoration: Repaired

Mass: Preserved

Humidity: Existing Mark
