I like the last picture of the document where Akinci assumes a friendly grandfather-like smile while Attaturk's vicious eyes look at you from behind with pure evil ambition.

...a most hopeful speech at the UN. The President spoke well in English, i think his speech was relevant and interesting, filled with that emotion that makes it a powerful message as well.

(i know many will scoff at my opinion, i would like to remind them, that it is the Statesmanship this world (and Cyprus) needs he is talking about; please think about this before answering.)

And that you should not compromise the individual rights to the collective.

...says Eide; most encouraging.

The chief negotiators of the two communities will on Monday begin exploring the establishment of a working group tasked with writing up the laws of a federal, reunited state, government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides revealed on Thursday.
On Monday, negotiators Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami are scheduled to meet again in the presence of the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide.
The meeting will also be attended by legal experts from both sides, for an initial discussion of how to go about establishing the joint panel drafting the future state’s federal laws.
“It has been a longstanding demand of the Greek Cypriot side that the laws must be ready from Day 1 after a possible settlement, following referenda,” said Christodoulides.
The creation of this panel of experts had been agreed by the two sides some time ago, he added.
The mammoth task of writing up the law s of a new federal republic is expected to take several months.
The next meeting between the leaders of the two communities, President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, is set for Friday, October 30th.
Meanwhile in a post on twitter Eide said he had a “promising” meeting with property experts from both sides earlier this week.
“A promising negotiators mtg. w/ property experts, constructively building common ground on a crucial issue. #Cyprus,” he tweeted.

Kerry says very little, more wishful than anything else. He is no Biden.

Kerry also told journalists at the Fulbright Centre in Nicosia that he feels the ground of the UN-brokered Cyprus peace process is “clearly shifting.”

World-wide attention, though.
