I have stated many times how boring this game, cricket, is, so many bloody runs, wickets ins and notouts, the game is utterly and comprehensively boring, for me that is, is there any wonder it has not captured, like soccer has, the imagination of the entire world.

The highlights of soccer are plentiful and widely varied, whilst cricket is repetitive action, a bowler throws, a catcher catches or does not, a few runs and bingo they score 1000 !! :D

Well, you might be gay and don't know it yet! I hope you realize this.

Mate, I never call my self heterosexual, homosexual or use any other descriptive terminology apart from MAN.

I love the opposite sex, even at my age, I consider a woman to be almost but not quite as enjoyable as a bottle of a fine claret, now this says a lot about my preferences

Yep, you're still in denial!

So you're mail order bride from the internet is just for cover?

Let me correct you here as regards my "mail order" other third. I know that this little story is far and away from this thread but I will tell it nevertheless. I will make it short.
July 4th, American independence day, 2010, I came to her hour of call when her purse went missing whilst shopping in a Limassol supermarket, I will pay I said, you pay me later, 28 euros and 64 cents!!
Found her purse and paid me back but on offering back to her her hand written telephone number she declined to take back. I called her that evening, she worked in a local bar serving behind the counter. In I went, she welcomed me a warm handshake and we begun to talk, I ordered a bottle of wine, halfway through my wine the old boy, owner of the pub, objected to her talking to me, he obviously thought I was trying to pick her up. He reprimanded her severely and impolitely, I took exemption to his tone of voice, she begun to cry, take your bag I said to her, your coming with me. She did, back in my flat we drunk a little, I told her my age, 64 , she told me hers 28 , told me her life story!!
I assured her that she was safe with me and showed her in her bedroom, gave her the key and asked her to lock her room.

The rest is history....

Look, I was happy that Greece won and I was rooting for them, however, it will take a while for Greece to reach Australia's World Cup pedigree since this is only the first game they have won in the World Cup!

Australian pedigree??? Those mongrels have 2 wins in their world cup tally and Greece has one! Oh and by the way Greece won the toughest Continental tournament in 2004. Buzz me when Australia does the same.

So what's you're problem then? Australia has more wins and 3 draws = more World Cup pedigree! 8)

Australia has won the Asian Cup and Confederations Cup twice! Buzz me when Greece does that.

God, it's like talking to children sometimes! :?

Pants on fire! you've never won the Asia cup or the confederations cup!

Pants on fire! you won the OFC cup not the Asia cup twice. Playing Kiribati and Fiji!!

No we won the Asia Cup once. The Oceania Cup was default an Australian win but they are no longer part of this Confederation.

Oh sorry, they made the Confederations Cup final and lost on penalties!

Still, beat that! Look, it's gonna take a while to beat this kind of Football Pedigree! 8)

I don't think you will ever get there to be honest!

Yes we have.

We won the OFC 4 times, qualified for more World Cups which btw was always through South America until they joined the Asian Confederations. They were Asian Cup Finalists (lost on penalties) and Confederations Cup Runners up. When has Greece achieved that? 8)

New Zealand
Niue1
Papua New Guinea
Samoa
Solomon Islands
Tahiti (French Polynesia)
Tonga
Tuvalu1

Now let's see who Greece had to contend with to win the Euro

Country
Portugal
France
Denmark
Czech Republic
Sweden
Germany
Greece
England
Bulgaria
Italy
Switzerland
Croatia
Latvia
Netherlands
Spain

BUT SERIOUSLY!!

I am very happy about Greece's result. That is the truth.

They played very well. I also hope they beat Costa Rica (I like Costa Rica too) and go to the QF and beyond. Hell, I hope they win the damn tournament.

But, Australia is a very serious Football nation and the entire world recognizes this. They have had a lot of success and have been producing very high quality players that have played for top European Clubs. The A League is strong, although I have never been to a game for about 4 years. It is much stronger today than 4 years ago. They managed to construct the right system to achieve success. These days, A League clubs are able to play and beat anyone.

This current squad has achieved quite a lot. 6 players are about to join the U21 World Cup Squad now. Yes you got it. Postecoglu basically fielded a lot of kids in order to give them a baptism of fire. He only had about 10 weeks to prepare the team. For a team like this to play as well as they did, is a big warning sign and the real story should become very clear in about 4 years time. Personally, I believe they are a top 20 or top 15 side by then.

It's going to be a very formidable team, that will play a very aggressive fast tempo game.

I think it is very unfair to be bashing this team as it is unfair to bash the Greek Team. At the end of the day, both teams qualified. It is especially unfair to bash the Australian Team. Half the side is U21. They are Ollyroos International Players (Under 21).

The Australian team got to measure itself against the best sides and they youngsters know where they are at and what they will need to do and that is what they wanted.
