Limassol Info

Postby Boggie46 » Sat Aug 09, 2014 5:57 pm

Not sure if anyone could help me with this but here goes.
I was living in Limassol as a child from 1969 - 1972. I remember we lived in a bungalow across the road from "The Wheatsheaf pub" and also a dried river bed.
Could anyone tell me if this pub is still there, or if not give me some idea as to where its approx location could have been.
I plan to travel out again in 2015, although I have been to Cyprus 11 times over the years I have never had the chance to go to Limassol which I want to put right.

Appreciate any assistance given in advance.

Dave

P.S
Not sure if it helps but my father was stationed out there with the RAF so it could be that we were living near a base ? He is dead now so cannot ask him, and my mothers memory is not the best.

You were probably living inside the Akrotiri SBA. Ask someone there: http://www.sbaadministration.org/index. ... t-us/7-aoa

Good luck!

It is possible it was SBA but I would say it's more likely it was a 'hiring' in Limassol.
I too lived in Limassol, in a bungalow, by a river bed between '66 and '69. I don't know of anywhere like that in Akrotiri.
The key to your search is finding someone who remembers where the pub was, but like my previous question on this forum, that's not easy.
