Barbaros succesful

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Perhaps Turkey should change its name to Ostrich then because there's no disputing the damage it's policies have been doing and no head hiding in the sand will change that.

Turkey sent a ship and two military escorts to the Republic of Cyprus's EEZ and it got slapped.

http://online.wsj.com/articles/eu-warns ... 1414162562

It not only got slapped but assured every other company that may want to work with the Republic that it's ok to do so because in the eyes of the rest of the world there's NO dispute. These waters are undisputable Cypriot Economic Exclusive zone. Now this is where it gets interesting. Until this had happened then the only other states that could back us up where the ones that had co-signed the demarcation lines with us....Israel, Lebanon and Egypt. But now, thanks to Turkey the EU, the USA and Russia have been forced to go on record and recognize these waters as Cypriot Exclusivity. :D

There's no chance in hell we could ever elect a government in Cyprus that could have ever performed as well for our interests are erdogan is doing right now!

Trust me....we're as shocked as you are

Lucas’ imaginary mighty lion…

On the CM, lonely Lucas is getting butt-hurt again because his “mighty Turkish lion” is getting bitch slapped by the “mosquito” once again! :?

Your “mighty lion” has been well trained over the decades to get bitch slapped by the mosquito time and time again Lucas, and each time the proboscis sinks in you get malaria up your veins and write daft heart broken articles! :)

Haven’t you seen who is in control in a circus? It’s the lion tamer Lucas… not the lion so just learn to take it like a man Lucas because nobody can hear your cries…

Now if you’ll excuse me people, I’m feeling a little tear in my eye for Lucas… :(

What exactly is his message?

That Turkey is more important than Cyprus and we should therefore do what Turkey says? :)

He and Turkey can always come and suck my cock… give me a full polish for all the respect I have for him or Turkey, because in my eyes one Cypriot is worth a million Turks!

So keep taking the slaps from the “mosquito” Lucas like you’re used to and shut up!

Davut and Erdo managed to get us worldwide recognition of the EEZ, now is the time to sell the gas fields to a big player, seeing we have every right to do so, and see if the Turks can play hardball. It would be funny to sit back, count the money and watch the show.

Maybe give 18 per cent of the cash to individual TCs, not the rotten TRNC, and watch that circus dissolve. Financially it can be done by giving the TCs investment tax breaks if they invest their money in RoC registered assets and refuse to transfer it or have it taxed in the Trunc.

There are plenty of big players out there who are eager to get their hands on the gas, and they have the means to exploit it and defend it. They might even sell it to the Turks who are so keen to get gas, but they will not be getting it for nothing. The Europeans and the Russians know the facts, and they know it is easier to deal with the RoC as landlord than the Turks. The Turks know it too, but now they play tough because there is no risk. It will be much different if the ante is suddenly upped and they face a whole fleet in the area.

As for the "giving up 37 per cent" etc stressed by Lordo, that is precisely what BBF would mean, only with a different heading. Anyone who believes BBF is anything other than legalised partition is a naive bugger.

In my opinion, and I may be wrong, we are now trying to punch above our weight, by insisting on getting into the energy business where we have no infrastructure and no means to secure it. A major gas terminal in Cyprus will give the Turks more leverage, a major strategic target to threaten every time they want to up tension. The same terminal owned by a major power would be a totally different story.

Yes, the money would be less than if we enter into direct dealings, but not that much less. And the game plan would change drastically by removing the Turkish influence from the area, which is pretty much what all the regional powers want anyhow. No one wants to play neo-ottoman bullshit with their energy resources.

PS to Lordo, it is a nine bob note mate.

nikituimmu, if you are the best gcs can throw at us we shall be fine.

first of all it is a 10 bob note because it s not note but a coin. secondly if you think you will just announce that you pay tcs 18 percent when the roc stipulates 30, i got news for you boy, it aint worth jack shit. but beside the gcs are too greedy and will not offer one percent so we are safe.

its funny how the gc mentality has not changed one bit since 1963. you are hiding behind other people thinking they will defend your rights. perhaps there is one more lesson to be learned before finally you realise what tiny mosquito you are.

slap.

there you go, one less to worry about. it was a bloody bugger too. i hope that was not kurubedo, i would hate myself if i just squashed my brainless companion.

Greed is an interesting angle. The greedy GCs are the ones extending pension payments to TCs, open employment to 12000 TCs who work in the south, allow TC communities in the south to vote for their mukhtar (as Tim informs us about Limassol), offer free medical treatment, give passports and IDs.

Compare that to the treatment of GCs in the north, from 28000 in Karpasia down to 350, not allowed even overnight stays, systematic looting of homes and churches, seeing the GCs as nothing more than walking wallets and casino clients.

Greed, yes, we know all about it.

And no, i am not the best there is by a long shot.

One look around the area, looking for one community, one neighboring country that is on good terms with Turkey is an interesting exercise in futility, and a revealing one. Greece,m Bulgaria, Russia, Armenia, Iran, Syria, Israel, Egypt, they all have issues. It makes monkeys of that noble Davut goal: zero problems. What a clown! If he is one of the best minds Turkey has to show, it makes you wonder about the rest.
