Postby X__Alien » Wed Dec 14, 2005 7:56 pm

Hi.
Im in Cyprus until January (Nicosia), and id like to go to Egipt, and spend a few days there.
But because im a student, i dont have a lot of money to travel. What kind of transportation Cyprus offer to go there? Does anybody here has been there?

Thanks!

Trains, air balloons .. the usual stuff ;) You can go by plane or take a cruise there. But I am not sure if cruises are offered in winter.

Hi X___Alien,
Too add to Sotos i think most cruises have been suspended for this time of year but however you can take a plane over to Eygpt, it takes about 55 minutes to an hour and you can actually fly in the morning and be back in the evening. Its about on the averdge price depending on who you want to travel with , 195.00 (CYP).
Heres a website that offers the following:
Transfer from your Cyprus hotel to Paphos airport and vise versa
Return Flight ticket to Cairo
Full day English Guided Tour in Cairo
Lunch at the 5-star hotel Le Meridien Pyramids or Hilton Ramses.
Short Cruise on The River Nile
Airport Assistance
All taxes

To me that pretty much sounds great, so whatever you do, enjoy your trip.:P

Yeah, people have told me that boats are suspended in this time of year. But WHY? Planes are too expensive! :(

It would be OK even a small boat! LOL

I went to Egypt on one of the last cruises of the year, they stopped on the 7/11/05.

The National Museum is interesting but chaotic, the pyramids are awesome, they really do take some comprehending, but the experience is spoilt by the camel rider hustling people to ride a camel, and the camel shit takes the edge right off things. Everywhere foreigners go, they are hustled to buy souveniers ect.

Apart from the pyramids, I can't honestly say I liked anything at all about Egypt, the place is a dump.

My advice would be to fly in the morning, see the pyramids and fly back in the afternoon.

My son has been to Syria and reckons it's the same, but really enjoyed his time in Lebanon, a good friend rates Jordan for short holidays, which is where I'll probably try next.
