Then it does not matter does it but the gaurantor agreements are bankrupt and void.

The RoC is a member state of the EU and Turkey will not be a gaurantor as far as the RoC is concerned.

The way I see it, if you want a Turkish gaurantor, you go live in Turkey.

If turkey wants a solution like she supposedly does she will let United roc into NATO.if she doesn't then her real motives will be exposed.lets see of edrogan and davotoglu are forward thinkers and three steps ahead as they claim they are

That will never happen. We would never spite Russia to appease the US.

Half of Limassol is owned by Russians these days…

Russian Mafia?

Wow, congratulations!

The same Russians wouldn't even be able to get a VISA to enter USA or Australia. Ever asked yourself why?

Half of them have criminal records or dealings. Some could even be wanted and many have false passports and IDs.

NATO is the only way out of this tricky mess.

It's obvious to me that the GCs will never go for any Guarantee Treaty with Turkey and you can't blame them.

Therefore, NATO is an option and it should be discussed as part of comprehensive settlement.

Who says they're interested? :?

Anyway, only those not living in Cyprus and thus not knowing enough about today’s Cyprus would suggest NATO. I assure you it’ll never happen.

It's lucky they're not interested because we won't have them.

May there be 1000 more places like Cyprus to keep them uninterested!

I would overstate Cyprus' dependence on Russia. At the moment the EU has got you by your Cypriot Kocha which they have a mortgage on. They could decide to chop them off and make you eat them!

Then you will need to import Aussies like me to keep all the British and Swedish Backpackers happy!

Fortunate I don't have to live in Cyprus to know that getting turkey off of Cyprus means getting Cyprus into NATO or at the very least eu pfp.believing and hedging on the χανθο γένος will get Cyprus burned again.

Cyprus should have been in NATO from 1960.

Can anyone name me one country within NATO that has been burned? Just one will do.

NATO was created for the benefit of Europe first of all and was born out of the ashes of WW2. It was formed because of the need to develop strong defence ties between European countries and as a deterrent to another power embarking on another expansionist adventure like we saw from Nazi Germany. Let's face it, if European countries are invaded again, it will be countries from outside of Europe who will once again be called upon to die for the Defence of Europe.

For decades, NATO has achieved its aims, and it has kept the peace in Europe for decades. Greece has gained a lot from its membership in NATO. Firstly, it is a well armed country and it has also managed to keep Turkey at bay in the Aegean and protect its territorial integrity over thousands of islands.

Cyprus got burned for being an outsider. It would not have been burned if it was a member of the European (EU)/NATO alliance.

And let's say if NATO is a Guarantor. Well, this will protect Cyprus and its security because no one Nation can act unilaterally. A Treaty of Guarantee from Turkey is bloody dangerous and I should hope is unacceptable. You would have to have rocks in your head to agree to this.

And for me, it would be virtually a given that somewhere along the line, Turkey will get up to its usual tricks and once again, you will all be at Turkey's mercy. They have clear long term ambitions over Cyprus and I hope you can all see it too.

Turks are smart. Don't listen to all the Greek wive's tails that they are not. They are smarter than us. They are more clever and they strategically think and plan their long standing and long term objectives which we are incapable of. They do have their objectives for Cyprus. BEWARE!

Cyprus and Greece are cursed to have them as their neighbours. Both need NATO as an insurance policy.

You can never trust them.
