I most certainly remember the Piastra !!! 9 to the shilling !! 18 shillings to the pound !!
Only the Brits could have divised such system !! A bit like ...cricket really !!! :lol:

Why 9 to the shilling, why 18 to the pound, why not 12 to the shilling same as the old British currency and 20 shillings to the pound !!!

I recall Piastras or mbakkires as they were commonly refered to back then.

Don't remember the piastra's, but remember the mils and referring to 50 mils as a shilling!

I could never get my tongue round saying "mils" - it's so not a Greek word. So nasal.
