Oddly enough the OXI vote will probably energize the Greeks into implementing the EU's guidelines on the economy including property and taxation. Thats my next prediction...

Don’t say that just yet… lots of people want their money back so this ain’t going away.

They’re gonna gang up on him at the international level and then Greece will surely feel the wrath of global creditors.

They were already talking about “regime change” last week in Brussels…

What gives them the right to talk about regime change.

Is Greece a democracy or not. Can't they respect the voice of the Greek People?

If they are talking in this manner, then they can FO and Greece doesn't have to pay a red cent. Don't ever believe that Greece has nothing under its sleeve.

It will be painful but they could roll out the Drachma and then they can kiss some Greek butt!

We have to ask ourselves if this is the EZ we really want to be a part of if they do not accept the voice of the people!

Lots of powerful people worldwide are owed money and I don't think they'll appreciate an emboldened Tsipras making statements like "The debt itself is on the table now"!

i doubt it paphitis, Greeks have always had a sense of independence about them. it starts at a young age. At the earliest of age Greek kids utter the words "monos mou" on my own is the translation. They know what needs to be done and the alternative is worse. Argentina came out of the default because it opened up its vast natural resources to growing economies like Brazil and China, Greece doesn't have that option. It could be the reason the resources are not being developed in the Aegean, yet. A Greece with the Aegean hydrocarbons at its disposal would have said "giasou" to the EU a long time ago.

And Greece just gave them the finger!

Greece is fighting for future generations now and have the mandate to attack.

Possession is nine tenths of the law so if the creditors want to see any of their money, they will negotiate a new deal with Tsipras or get a Greek boutso up the arse!

When you got nothing to lose, you can do such things.

Rolling out the drachma does not solve the foreign exchange needs, for things like food (we import 70 per cent of food supplies), raw materials and medicines, as well as spares for military hardware.

The political party leaders council tomorrow is the key, short term, it will most likely decide on a new negotiating team, ie get rid of the dogmatic personalities that irked the Europeans, which Tsipras could have done on his own but does not want to take responsibility for firing party apparatchnicks.

This week will see a change that is akin to regime change. The polemic has outrun its usefulness and cost too much, tourism is down by a worrying 30 percent already according to the hoteliers association. The lost earnings equal the proposed austerity programme that was rejected last Thursday.

WHo was the Cypriot MEP who told Deutsche Welle "the idea is to get back on your feet and then fuck them"? That guy had the right idea. But it is proving too advanced for Greeks.

Well he’s gone from acknowledging the debt and trying to accommodate it, to questioning it overnight so in the creditor’s eyes that would seem like drawing first blood!

Now it gets dirty…

Nikita, we are now talking about the 350 billion which Greece owes which is about 190% of Greece's GDP.

This is a noose around Greece's neck for the next 50 years. Any short term foreign exchange requirements pale into insignificance.

Greece needs the following:

1. a debt write down,
2. or be allowed to print.

I would do the same thing.

And I know you would to. He has no choice. The people have given him the Joker and he has to play the card the best way he can for the people's sake.

It beats being someone's bitch for 50 years.

Get Real, this is a remarkable victory for the little guy! Let's hope Greece can see it through to the end!

It's not just about Greece either!

No Greek official has mentioned default. They talk of restructuring and debt sustainability. The two are not the same. Are they?

It would be hard to convince the citizens of the other EU nations that they will be taxed because Greece decided not to repay loans. The accumulated ill will has a huge cost.
