Akinci says 50:50 police force

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

we already have two local police in place. perhaps what 10 federal police on each side. with computerisation they only need to coordinate the police activities really. when it comes to savings, how about only one set of embassies in each country. how much saving will we get from just buildings.

you are scraping the barrel to find excuses. there is none left. by all means reduce the number of mps from both sides and one set of ministers. reduce the civil service by a third. you will be in profit before you can blink.

its comforting to know things have not changed since 1960. the authorities can do as they wish with impunity.

the top layer will have 5 people from each. so thats 10. is that what you are worried about.

and of course if you take away the functionality that will be performed at the top layer from the current system you will still have a huge saving.

With 10 people the federal police will be useless. If there is a real federation then the "FBI" of Cyprus will be strong, it will be above the local police, and it will be proportionally represented.

oh ok lets make it 15 each. how many do you need.how many federal level crimes do you expect to get.

london has 31,000 policemen looking after 8 million residents. applied in cyprus you need total of 3875 police in total for both sides. if you have about 2500 for each side with 100 federal level for each, jobs done. unless you boys are more criminal then average in which case we can let you have some of spare ones.

Re Bordo, This would mean that either more police per person in the north and or less police per person in the south. If TC's police the north and GC's po;lice the south.

Or what is more likely with this ignorant and stupid idea;

Is that some policemen in the republic of Cyprus would probably lose their jobs and be replaced by Tc's who will police in the republic. Who, probably cant speak Greek and have a difficult time understanding the law because of the rogue state they are used to.

I don't suppose that you want 50:50 police in the north do you?

All of this is a farce. The TC political leadership come up with Sh!t that is way disproportional and costs (usually the GC;s) way too much. What they propose is really unattractive and they have no clue how crap it looks to the Gc's. Then when they start the blame game, they make themselves look illogical and thick.

Not to say that the Gc's political leadership is la creme da la creme but relatively speaking, with the TC involvement, the state would have economic and political problems indefinitely. Since 1960, the TC's created deadlock in the republics government and then ducked themselves in an embargoed illegal state built on stolen private property belonging to their citizens.

Now they think they can waltz back, demand more than they had before AND keep the property they stole from their citizens. :?

Lordo, sometimes in your one track chauvinist mindset you fail to realise that some comments are about the Cypriot approach as a whole, not about one or other community.

The tendency to favor government jobs as more secure is a pan Cypriot thing, and based on that knowledge I speculate how things might pan out post BBF. When did you know politicians to reduce the government jobs they can hand out as favors to their cronies?

I grant you that post BBF the united right wing GC-TC lot will appoint their people and the left will want to do likewise, as opposed to doing it on ethnic grounds. Well, I guess that can be seen as progress of sorts.

I must admit a certain bias against buraucracy everywhere, because it consumes time, ie peoples' lives for no reason.

embassies belong to federal level not state level so there will only be one embassy for each country for federal republic of cyprus. what else could i possibly mean. or are you going to twist it arse backwards like you usually do with things.
