AGREED, the rest of it reads as if you are looking for an excuse NOT to go to your friend's funeral and, as usual, have managed to worm your way out of the necessary trip by whingeing and whining about the difficulties you may have to surmount.

If I was Charly, I'd come back and haunt you for being such an arsehole at a time when "Loyalty" was called for.

Poor old Charly, he wasn't much of a judge of character it seems, he should have chosen his friends a bit more carefully.

R.I.P..........wherever you may end up Charly, if you were MY mate, I would have been there no matter what. 8)

Yes well our brand of loyalty is pretty rare, unfortunately.

I still would have gone to my mate because you can fly into Cyprus in the morning and be back in the UK for dinner the same day.

Milty has an extended family and a large base of friends so I'm not surprised he is called upon to be in two places at once.

All I can say, to counter those morons making things difficult for him, is that it's easy enough for those with only one commitment in life to make such *easy* decisions - as jet here and jet back before someone dies - but for most people (and I have been in Milty's shoes) trying to be in two places over a short period of time is just not feasible.

Right now he has at least TWO people living a hellishly desperate situation through the pending death of his daughter-in-law and I'm sure the Orthodox Way and most morally correct thing to do in his situation is to be with the TWO people living instead of being with ONE now departed. Furthermore, if you are familiar with the Orthodox Way, you will know there are many memorial days on which to remember the departed and these are commitments which have been explicitly set up for such situations whereby, sometimes, some people cannot be in TWO places at the same time!

 Thinking about it, haunting would be too good for the old "Arse-licker", he should be put down with his mate Charly for failing to attend the funeral of this person of whom he professes to have regarded with such admiration........typical hypocrisy as usual. 8)

Oh yes the Star Trekky is back with the needs of the living outweigh the needs of the dead, or the needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few. Well thank you Mrs Spok!

The air travel is feasible. Done it dozens of times at very short notice. Had to do the Red Eye on a International QF Flight from Singapore because of a sudden death, and even had to do a long haul from Melbourne to Larnaca (but that was family). Also had to attend a funeral of a very close mate who died in a plane crash, aged 40 married with children with whom I was at NEOC with. Most recent was travelling to Hong Kong for a mate that hanged himself (suicide) and he was a Cathay Pacific Flight Instructor and ex RAAF. He was my best mate and I never saw this coming.

Everyone is different, and rather moping around waiting for someone's death, I would have gone to my best mate and returned. I would have honestly made the effort for a close friend of this caliber.

But I was bought up a little different. Loyalty is a big thing here, and not saying Milti is not loyal. The mere fact he at least asked, means he is from the old school as opposed to Mrs Spok who has no loyalty at all! It also suggests he is incapable of the cold-hearted calculations we have seen from the Planet Vulcan, and that is good to see. Which is why he wanted perhaps some re-assurance from the more cold-hearted and calculating members here.

My best friends are family and they know it too, and reciprocate.

Charly was my beloved brother in law. He knew of Caroline's illness and would understand my predicament, as indeed most of you with the exception of, on the other hand, I will leave this for another time.

Caroline had been in comma for 3 days, my beloved daughter in law has now passed away, 4 days after my brother in law. She was a mere 41 years old !!!

My worst fears have been realized, I will stand by my son, 20 years they had been together ...

So "Beloved" you couldn't bother to go to pay your respects, don't flannel it, just say it out "I couldn't give a bollocks!", you will feel so much better once the truth comes out and even "Charly's Ghost" will think more of you [although he might still haunt you].

Oh dear, Milty, I am so sorry to hear of this horrible trauma in your life yet again and the sad passing of someone so young. My sincerest condolences to your son for his loss. You did the right thing. To be there for your young daughter-in-law and now your grieving son. Your friend, Charly, is long gone, and will understand the living took priority. And now, you have many events in which to honour and remember both their memories.

N.B. Will the ISIS-loving trolls with evil intents kindly desist from provoking this sad life situation!

Garavnoss - I am particularly ashamed of your stance as you otherwise show a modicum of intelligence!
