Whats your setup?

Its a micro four thirds based camera - panasonic gx7

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro_Four_Thirds_system

Lens is a 14mm-140 - which is the equivalent of 24mm-280mm on a normal 35mm slr. So basically 280mm is what I was zoomed too - would have preferred 400-500mm but thats the longest zoom lens I have.

Nice pictures. Having read the link you gave it seems that the old OM1 lenses I have (40 years old) can be used on the current digital body using an adaptor. I was previously told that all my OM1 equipment is effectively now junk. Do you have any personal knowledge of the adaptor and its use?

I have not used any 'legacy' lenses with this body. I only got the camera a week or so ago. I do understand that you can use such lenses with an adaptor - obviously you then have to operate the camera in a fully manual mode - no autofocus or exposure or control of the aperture from the camera menus and controls - but other than that I think they work fine optically.

This may be of use Jerry

Also those old OM1 lenses can still have value today - depending on the actual lens and its condition. For example

I've got a Pen EE, a Yashicamat and a Lubitel (copy of an old Voightlander) but I think my old lenses would fit your gollos more easily than the cameras.

Thanks for that, I'll take a look, I can't believe how expensive the Olympus bodies are. I currently use a panasonic lumix compact with GPS which can do what most SLRs can do except its difficult to frame a picture in bright sunlight since the screen is almost invisible.

One day you’ll have to tell us the fascinating story of how you went from an aspiring 60s photographer to an insane hoarder! :)

You are absolutely right, it is a fascinating story but it was 70s not 60s. In those days, when "men were men" we used to develop our own black and white photographs, some of us even managed colour prints - very temperature sensitive. I used Cibachrome to make prints from slides.
