Taking the label "crusader" and plastering it on every country with a significant christian population that happened to invade a muslim country is false and an empty anachronism.

When a predominantly Christian country (and particularly one that flaunts the motto “In God we trust”) keeps attacking and destroying predominantly Muslim countries one after the other (spanning 25 years of non-stop aggression) for the sake or on behalf of a predominantly Jewish country, it’s very hard if not impossible to not connect the religious dots and thus describe such behavior as a crusade.

Also, with the exception of Turkey invading Cyprus with America’s approval in 1974, I cannot recall any other Muslim country attacking a Christian state in the last 50 years but I can name about a dozen Arab/Muslim states attacked by the West, so once again the statistics support exactly the opposite of what you’re saying.

I don't know what the Crusades have to offer to today because Christianity has addressed those wrongs, done in its quest for peace, centuries ago.

I’m aware that many of you consider Europe to be “civilized” and all that but I don’t agree with this.

Being civilized isn’t about having the latest digital TVs, smartphones, nice houses and hot cars. Such material possessions would constitute “technologically advanced” and perhaps “wealthy” but not necessarily civilized.

Saudi Arabia is one such extreme example of a country that has access to almost any technology it desires as a result of oil wealth, but is simultaneously mentally archaic and backwards and thus uncivilized.

To be considered civilized we need to be civil and that of course means courteous, gracious, caring, well mannered, gentlemanly, and so forth, but the West does NOT possess any of these characteristics either because it is constantly engaged in flagrant violations of international law against 3rd world impoverished and defenseless nations.

This recurring theme; that has become the hallmark of the West, is in direct contraction to civility and cannot therefore be ignored so to answer your question, the most civilized countries would have to be those that are both technologically advanced, law abiding, AND civil in their attitude towards their neighbors and other nations and I’ll leave that for you to decide who satisfies these criteria if any.

Ah yes but I am a little confused.

One of the measures of a strong civilization is freedom and democracy. That places Saudi Arabia down the list no doubt.

But, the USA, Canada, EU Countries, Australia, and Israel are democratic and have freedom of speech and all have published images which take the piss out of Islam, Judaism and Christianity too. So these countries are the most civilized no?

I can't remember who was ridiculing the loss of life in France, and celebrating this hideous crime, but wouldn't you agree that is a bit uncivilized for that person to take advantage of the freedom of speech afforded to them to them by their civilized society to say such ridiculous things?
