OK I will let you have your thread back but think twice before you start getting all personal just because you don't like my views. BTW, you're the one spreading derogatory remarks.

Go right ahead and tell your story now.

No, you started the derogatory remarks on this thread, you should have shown a more mature attitude and just kept out of it.

You go back to my first post and then read his reply.

I'm afraid you are completely wrong and further to that it was Milti that has made insulting personal posts. But that's ok because he is sensitive but I do have a right to answer against his personal attacks and insults which invariably are a result of him not agreeing to what I post. I couldn't give a stuff what his beliefs are.

You can't play silly buggers and expect some kind of immunity.

Stupid bugger bit the hand that was always defending him from the personal vitriol of others so don't worry about my maturity because he did that because of his own intolerance to other viewpoints. It's as simple as that.

Anyway, I said my piece. Over to you Milti. What happened next?

Did you feed the Adespota?

Just before I conclude I think I ought to give a little insight into my business contact whom I have known purely on a business level for about 5 years or so.

A succesful man who inherited the business from his father. We talked many times on the phone but apart from telling him that Im a Cypriot no other personal details were aired either from my self or from D, I shall refer to him as D from now on.

He exports much of his manufactured goods to the Eastern block and much more of course to the UK.

He speaks fluent English but mostly we conversed in Greek, not ....Cypriot, he remarking that my Greek is excellent which of course it is.

He is around 55 years of age, and met him for the very first time in person last Saturday at my hotel. A charming man with a GSH, couldnt help noticing how smartly dressed he was, although casual I could see that he dressed in quality cloths shoes etc.

My meeting lasted no more than 15 minutes as our deal was allready concluded from London before I arrived in Athens.
Will continue soon as Im now at work ...
By the way Mr-from-NG just gave me a call, a real mate, a sensible man and a true Cypriot. We agreed to meet up for a drink or two soon.

And he still wouldn't tell me what happened next. The suspense is killing me  I suggested Y was taken to a Cypriot restaurant and he knew the owners but I was told I wasn't anywhere near to the truth :(

D ?, I think you are now trying to throw the sniffer dogs off the scent by subtly suggesting that THIS person might be "Il Dubio".

Can't be a mate if you lied to him [telling him that you're Cypriot after spending over half a century posing as an Englishman]. 8)

Or, could the "D" be for "Draft Dodger" like yourself ?, if so, the pair of you could end up wearing piss pots as flack helmets.

THE FINALE !

It was shortly after 6.30 pm, I just had my shower, shaved and ....spruced my self up when my phone rung.
A cheerful D was on the line telling me that he and his wife were downstairs in the bar having a drink and that I should take my time if not ready and join them as soon as I was ready.

I have always been very punctual with my time, I suppose being in the UK for over half a century you adopt some of the local etiquette and being on time is one such.

Since I was only going to be in Athens for two evenings I only brought a couple of shirts and trousers, a pair of shoes and just one jacket, I do love my jackets, after all my late father was a master tailor !!

The small amount of hair on my head , and kept very short did not require much grooming, besides I was not about to go ...clubbing !!

I was really looking forward to a good dinner, I was certain that D was a stylish man, very debonair and almost as .....good looking as I

I did fleetingly wondered what his wife would be like, I had imagined some Greek classical beauty and boy was I correct in one aspect.

A beauty she certainly was !!

Entered the bar and spotted D seating on his own in a large comfortable armchair.
Oh he said M , my wife is powdering her nose !! What would you like to drink he asked, our table is booked for 8pm so we have time for a drink or two he added. Being a wine man I asked for a glass of white, I always drink red but white wine is a more suitable aperitif. Do you ever drink scotch D asked, only when ....drunk I responded!! D was fond of his whiskey .

His lady wife was still not with us, women he said shaking his head !!

Where are we going I asked, Oh he said you would like it, its a restaurant facing Akropolis very enchanting at night. Do you know much about Akropolis he asked. Yes I replied, 5th century BC during the golden era of Pericles. He was ...impressed but not as impressed as I was when I caught a glimpse of this fabulously elegant, stunning blonde approaching us with a smile on her face.

I almost fainted and may I say so did she as she embraced me with shrieks of delight that I haven't heard since my younger days.

Its you, its you ...Mr John !!!

D, was lost for words, maybe thinking " an old boyfriend, lover "!!

I let Maria explain, she kept laughing like a little girl who had just received her favourite toy !!

You will recall that some time back I wrote about Maria. I knew she had left Cyprus and lived in Greece but after she repaid me 1000 euros we somehow lost touch.

The meal and the Ambience of DYONISOS restaurant was exemplary, so relaxing and immensely enjoyable. D did not know about Maria and I how we met, Maria told him the whole story and would pat me on the back in a sort of loving way.

I told D about my other third, my young 33 year old wife .

We talked for ages, drunk wine followed by champagne and I think we are now friend for life.

Apparently D had lost his wife some years back, Maria worked for his company, she speaks fluent Russian naturally, and fluent Greek. They fell in love and I do hope from the bottom of my heart that they live happily ever after.

HERE IS A LINK FROM THE APST:
Re: A REAL LIFE STORY WITH A TWIST !

Postby miltiades » Tue May 28, 2013 3:11 pm

As I walked into the Bar, having first ensured that the old miserable sod with whom some 3 years back, I remonstrated with because he was so rude to the young lady and to my self, was not around i took my seat at the bar and waited to be served. A stunningly gorgeous blond came to me and asked for my order, I ordered a bottle of red but could not help staring at this lady behind the bar and thinking where on earth do I know her from. Well you guessed it.
She brought me some cheese and carrots to go with my wine and spoke to me in fluent Greek, I had on entering the bar and ordering my wine address her in English since she was clearly not a Cypriot.
Do I know from somewhere she uttered, I thought because I had stared at her a few times she was about to reprimand me. I dont think so I replied in Greek, but I cant help feeling that I have seen you somewhere before, feeling rather uncomfortable as I said those words, typical pick up effort !!
Do you live in England she asked, yes I replied, she gave me a long searching look and asked which part, South London I replied. She paused before asking the next question, looked at me again and asked.
May I know your name please Sir. John I replied, explaining that my Cypriot name is Yiannis but everyone calls me John. She attentively and in a very female way adjusted her long blond hair, before asking me , are you Mr John,
Thats when it clicked. George always introduced me to her on skype as Mr. John and she always started her texts Mr John....
It was her, it was Maria, the wife of my late acquaintance George.
We talked at length, the bar was not that busy and she genuinely was so happy to meet me. She told me that she was having great financial difficulties in Greece due to the economic situation and like many Greeks she came to find work in Cyprus bringing along her two young children.
