The ''lack of intefration'' is always a problem, in every country, also in Cyprus. 2 weeks ago we had to say goodbye to a lovely Bulgarian family, who lived in Cyprus for nearly 15 years, earned their money (did good and reliable work for 25 E per day), have 2 children who went to school here (and were NEVER invited to a Cypriot children's birthday party by one of their classmates). They left because they were never ''integrated'' in the village life.
There are always 2 categories of foreigners: the ones with money and the others. Russians and Chinese are paid court and bootlicked. Why? Because they are so wonderful characters and never harm anybody?? NO, just for their money! There aren't ''the Germans'', ''the Russians'', but there are ''the migrants''?? A bit more differentiation and less stupid simplifications would make the world a better place.

Yes I got hung up on the sensationalist title. The article is complete racial nonsense. To label 1000 migrants as brawlers, rapist and accuse them of sexual assault is a clear attempt to de-humanize them, ridicule and racially vilify them. It's a disgusting and completely unreliable article.

Yet, the Russian Migrants in Cyprus who have money come from the shadiest underbelly of Russia's organised crime rings. Yet they are tolerated because it is they who are buying the 3 million Euro villas in Cyprus. The Chinese however, earned there money the right way so can't say anything about them because they are just very clever business entrepreneurs.

How do you know they are refugees? Were they branded on their forehead?

Most countries are expected to do what they can, within the limits of their own capacities. Refugees are given temporary protection visas, and are actually expected to return home once it is reasonably safe to do so.

There are some 180,000 GCs who are refugees and many of them were accepted in EU countries, Australia, USA and Canada so I think you will do well to remember that in the future before you make ignorant posts.

Huge difference between Cypriot refugees and current refugees. The Cypriots were not seen as possible terrorists, they were not considered as people who aspired the downfall of the host nation's culture and way of life. The did not stick out like sore thumbs and quickly adapted to the host nations way of life. There is not one iota of logical comparison between the Cypriots and modern day immigrants/ asylum seekers.

I have seen them open businesses, and I am a regular visitor to their businesses because I like the types of food and paraphernalia that they sell straight from Afghanistan.

It is a very rich culture and people, much more rich than you which I can say without any shadow of doubt. They learn English, are generally very happy people, and I want them to keep their beautiful culture just like many Italians, and Greeks have because it enriches our country. They become a part of our country, contribute, have a strong work ethic and value education for their young so I feel very much ok with them.

I'm the kind of guy that could sit down in their establishments and complain that they have English Music. I like their music. Variety is the spice of life, and I really like exotic cultures some more than others.

Some decades ago, when the first huge waves of Greek and Italian migrants were arriving in America and Australia, there were many bigots like you in those countries that showed an enormous amount of intolerance and even racism towards our people. Those were tough times for our ancestors (parents) because American and Australian bigots and arseholes like you were in abundance. We would hear the same claims back then that we migrants would not adapt and integrate. Fact is they didn't want them to integrate and this was just a cover for their intolerance and racism. But not only did they integrate, but they became successful and thrived, and the newer waves will do the exact same thing because I see the exact same values in them that the initial big Italian and Greek post WWW2 migration waves.

Today, we hear the same things, but this time the targets are the newer arrivals from the Middle East and Afghanistan and this time we have many Greeks and Italians who were victims of the very same chorus of intolerance as you yourself have done whilst forgetting your origins and that you yourself experienced what they are experiencing today.

Sorry, but I am a migrant like them too, my parents went through what they are going through and I am certainly not going to unleash any hatred towards them at all. I instead look for the things I like about them and I find many things that I do like about them and many things I like much better about them even more than I like about Cypriots, Australians and other westerners.

I am a very happy chappy at a Sheisha Lounge drinking a nice tea and enjoying a couple of little pastry dishes whilst listening to their lovely music. I look exactly like them to. An Arab!
