Actually that after 86mins of playing (according to steam stats and half of that was messing with controller settings). It's all from the hours and hours spent 'back in the day'. From memory (and we talking like 25 years ago) my personal best on a real arcade machine version of missile command was 282,000. Give me a week and that no 1 slot is mine :)

Just 2 days ago I watched a documentary about Atari and their downfall in 1983. When I was a kit I had an Atari 2600 clone in the mid 80s but I wouldn't say I really miss any of those games ... maybe I would play them for 1-2 hours just for memory sake! As far as arcades go I used a lot of coins back in the mid to late 80s but I was playing several different games... and I certainly didn't play as much as some people... mostly on Saturday nights only.

My first console was one of these - way better than the atari 2600 and about twice the price as well

My first computer was this (Atari 400)

I used to go to school by train - one direction led to school, but sometimes I bunk off and cross the platform and head the other way into central London and the arcades there. Walking round Soho in full public school uniform. Otherwise for arcade action it was local HMV store in the town where my school was - again not the safest place to be when dressed up in school uniform. I remember being 20 minutes late for the start of my maths O level exam, because I was on to break my personal high score on missile command and did not want to stop - I knew as long as I got there before 30mins after exam started I could still sit it. Broke my high score, ran back to School, and pass my maths O level as well :)
