I am thinking of going to Nicosia on holiday. I am 70 and I was in Nicosea 50 years ago with the Blues Household Cavaly. All the tented barracks were on the Nicosia road I think it was called. Does anyone know if I would be able to go to this area and would anything be left of the camps. Mine was Camp Elizabeth. Thanks and a happy new year. Chris Norris

How near the city is what you are looking for? If it is closer than 25Km from the city centre it is probably gone.

Maria your right ,50 years is a lot of time. Our tented camp was possibly twenty miles from Nicosea and we faced the mountains accross about four miles of scrub land. Not much to go on I know. Chris

I don't think so Christopher. I have never heard of "Camp Elizabeth". Is this place in the free areas or the occupied areas?

Chris, can you remember any nearby village, or if your camp was to the North or South of Nicosia?

Apart from designated military areas you'll be able to go anywhere on the island, although the chances of finding the remains of a tented camp are pretty low.
