Those from Paphos are considered to be 'counrtryboys' by the rest of the island; they used a different dialect and idioms to the rest of the island. Alos, pre-motorway, it was cut off forom the sophistication of Nicosia dn Limassol.

Yes, with an airport and access to all of Cyprus within 2 hours Paphos is much more on the map. It has the most tourists and retirees from other countries flooding in; I suspect it is the fastest growing town economically. Real Estate has had a huge boom here - but they still speak with funny accents!

Kind of hard to get rid of their accents.
My Godfather was living there and I had a hard time understanding him when he would come and visit me in Famagusta.
