Tourist-Hungry Turks Destroying Cyprus' Turtles!

Postby GreekIslandGirl » Mon May 16, 2016 10:30 pm

Turks carrying out illegal occupation of northern Cyprus have used bulldozers in turtle-sensitive beach areas in their madness to beg for criminal tourists to come and give them some money. Disgusting destruction! Ethnic cleansing ...again!

CONSERVATIONISTS in northern Cyprus have been left furious after a bulldozer was used to clean Karsiyaka Beach, destroying its eco-system and natural vegetation, they say, as the turtle nesting season is about to start.

Cyprus Today reports that ‘furious environmentalist’s say they are taking the incident "very seriously" and will meet to discuss their next move over the "reckless" actions by ‘Lapta Municipality’.

The report added that the ‘municipality’ rejected the criticism, saying it had to ready the 400-metre-long beach — popular among summer visitors, but also a key nesting site for endangered green and loggerhead turtles between May and September.

Deniz, that's good to hear - that it's a shared grievance. We need to help these poor creatures, wherever their homes (nesting sites) are attacked.

Symbolic - shared loss.
