I have a growing concern over the bigger water bottles (10 ltr?) bought in shops, that I use to refill from village water vending machines. Probably not the best way to store water...

Anyone that has any opinion if water bottles bought at Leroy Merlin are any better?

If it has a stirring mechanism then it’s better than stagnant water.

Didn't get it. You are referring to the 10 ltr bottles, right? Why would stirring make it better? (any way any leftovers would be tossed before the bottle is refilled )

Do you mean those brown barrel-shaped tubs for storing halloumis or olives?

Those are found in some "Aladdin's Cave" type hardware shops or even in some DIY stores that sell paint, electrical wires etc

Apologies... I thought you were talking about drinking water.

...drinking water?

Terracotta jugs and vessels are the absolute best.

It has to be a well-seasoned terracotta jug, over a year in use, at least - otherwise I can taste/smell the clay. Can you?

...true, like anything natural, it matures from the care you take.
