The UK will probably have a similar arrangement as in Norway or Switzerland.

as they have to be accepted by the European Union and need to be ratified by all the EU member states and the state concerned.

So -just to play Devil's advocate - for example, Bulgaria and Romania might not ratify it unless their citizens continue to have the right to work in the UK?

judging by what has been said so far, eu wants uk out. but not only current citizens will be able to stay where they are, new ones will be unrestricted too. that is assuming uk wishes to trade with the eu. can we all relax.

The European Commission boss wants to start negotiating Britain's departure from the EU, saying: "It's not an amicable divorce."
so th wife gets the house, the car and you get what you are standing up in...

Article 50
1. Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements.

DONT FORGET ITS THE UK PARLIMENT IS SOVEREIGN ,and they would HAVE TO VOTE TO ACT ARTICLE 50

3/4 MP want to stay in the EU ... IT ONLY TAKES 10 TORY MPs to vote against boris as PM and he is dead in the WATER

Wot? That Rupert Murdoch told us to support Farage and vote to leave and then he would get rid of all those Bulgarian and Romanian wogs. Now, those wogs might get the right to stay and more will come, and even the deal negotiated by Cameron that would have stopped them getting benefits in the first four years is also torn up. That doesn't sound right. The banner headline in Murdoch's gutter tabloid is telling us we did the right thing. Let's not tax our brains too much. Murdoch says we should pat ourselves on the back and go out and celebrate. If Murdoch says it, it's right. The fact that he's Australian, doesn't live in the UK and is not affected in any way if the UK goes down the tubes has nothing to do with it.

I have heard that it is the prime-minister who gets to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty and it doesn't require a parliamentary vote. I may have got the wrong end of the stick. Boy, the rest of the EU must want shot of the UK very badly - I thought we were supposed to be bankrolling them. Article 50 has yet to be invoked, but nobody is begging the UK to reconsider. The UK will not get the same kind of deal as before if/when it comes cap in hand begging to be let back in. (Rupert Murdoch is famous for making 360 degree turns, so maybe by then he will be telling the masses that this is what they want!)

DAVID CAMERON ,who by calling the referendum ,made the worse political mistake since HITLER declared war on the USA,has made a very clever move - yes under ARTICLE 50 . Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements,SO ...in the UK that is the PRIME minister ,after a cabinet meeting - Unless that person has Resigned and is only a ´cartaker´ in that case he cannot declare war ,make treties etc etc without a vote in parliament as he has office but no power ...it wont get to the tory conference because in three month london will look like the set of 28 weeks after everyone has left . but the house of commons is 75& pro EU ....

There is an online petition for a second referendum and there are over 1.5 millions signatures so far. If you are a British Citisen you can vote. The total people voted in the referendum were less 75% so to they ask another referendum.

It's democracy ........... every body has the right to vote ....... if they don't get it right first time, they keep voting until they do get it right! Isn't that how it works?
