Thank you - only managed to watch the first video of his last appearance and I cried all the way through. Very emotional. What a wonderful man. He represents my dad, my dad's generation, my dad's attitude to life ... and now they are all sadly gone.

Will watch more later. Thank you.

Have a good day.

It was in July of 1966 when with Iris, then my girlfriend, a year later my wife, ventured into SPILIA a Greek night club in Athens, attracted by the name GRIGORIS MBITHIKOTSIS. The great man was then in his glory, playing the mbouzouki as well as singing. I admired the man and new then a number of his successes.

I managed to kindly request that he sat at my table during the break, and he did !! I introduced him to Iris who obviously did not know him but she could see how thrilled and excited I was to talk to this legend. He talked to Iris too, he spoke but a few words in English. I told him that I was a budding musician my self and he gave me so much encouragement.

I loved the Greek music then and absolutely adore it now. I'm very pleased that my "new" wife also loves Greek music, in fact it seems that almost everyone in Belarus, I'm currently here, likes Greek music. Vasilis Karas is her favourite Greek singer.
Had a great time last evening visiting friends here in Zhlobin , a great couple that I have got to know them quite well. They knew of my love for Greek music and listened to it all evening, even doing the Zeimbekiko to PALIATZIS !!
