Bring all the Swiss banks to Cyprus where all those crooked politicians, drug dealers and dictators keep their dosh in and we won't need any external guarantees or army. Until then Cyprus needs a self defence mechanism to ensure its safety, to assist in natural disasters and keeping the peace. Otherwise we will all be fucked. 3. Greece
4. The UK
5. The Greek Cypriots
6. The Turkish Cypriots
7. The EU
8. The UN
9. And also the U.S and Russia.
Too many players are involved with the island for it NOT to be a Federation. In a Federal Government, if one side doesn't play game, the bigger players will have the alternative to manipulate and glide their way. Like in the 1950s when the British promoted the Turkish Cypriots to the employment of the Police force, and later tricked Makarios into signing the 1960 constitution with Three Guarantor powers!
The Same will apply today! Anas Nicos has already received his ear-pulling talks with the bigger boys, as if Cyprus was destined to be a Unitary state, it would have happened many years ago. The U.S and U.K putting all their eggs into a Greek baskets is not intelligent Politics!
