Hi all!

Very soon I`ll move to Cyprus (Larnaca) to work in there for 6 month. May someone tell me something about what is better not to do in there?) Like not to smoke in streets, etc. I`m not from EU so I`ll appreciate any suggestions))

Thanks in advance.

Where are you from? The list of things "not to do" is too long to write but most of those things should be obvious... unless you are coming from a country with very different culture and laws. You can smoke in the streets but not in inside restaurants, cafes etc.

My impression of Cyprus as a foreigner living here is that it is a liberal, tolerant place. Of course, you are supposed to obey the law. I would say that it is pretty much like any other Western country. Whatever is acceptable in other Western countries is acceptable here.

When in Cyprus do not run around naked or masturbate in public. Thanks.

...avoid expressing a political opinion, especially about the Cyprus Problem. Be sensitive to the fact that it is a very personal issue in Cyprus, there are very few of the population who were and are left untouched by it.

...don't visit the occupation regime's benefactors (the casinos and hotels) in the occupied north. Unless you willfully want to support their (read: Turkish Army, Turkey) illegal acts, find Cypriots that you can enjoy patronising with your business.

...don't be cheap, be prepared to bargain to get what you want, don't be foolish, but be generous just the same.

...don't forget, you will meet "Greeks" and "Turks", (they may be the loudest,) not all Cypriots are "them", Greek and Turkish, Maronite (Arab), Latin, Rome, and Armenian, (never mind the British, Russian, etc.) Cypriots, exist too.

...Makaroni, is that Canadian from Ontario, or American from New Jersey?
