Does your tiny brain realize that Turkey can veto the entry of Cyprus in NATO and that Turkey doesn't even recognize Cyprus and therefore such thing is totally impossible? Not to mention that NATO would have nothing to gain from allowing Cyprus to join anyways, since they already have the British bases... so they get everything they could possibly need from Cyprus, without having to offer anything in return. You silly bugger! of course I know, but NATO should be involved as a viable option to replace ALL bogus Treaties of Guarantee with article 5 of the NATO Charter.

I don't know about you, but I would rather NATO Article 5 100 times more than any of the other options.

NATO membership can be made a pre-condition and as part of the overall package for a Cyprus Solution and it can be included under the security Chapter as meeting the security requirements of not only the GC and TC Community but for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic.

Cyprus will be made to lift its veto against Turkish entry into the EU, so there is no reason why the same shouldn't apply to Turkey and its potential veto of Cyprus. this is suppose to be a give and take process, but the Turks want it all their way.

NATO is one of the things I would like to see discussed at the Geneva talks. They probably are being discussed. I hope so for Cyprus' sake.

Everyone can afford NATO membership. there is only a stipulation to spend 2% of GDP on defence. that's it!

And 2% is what countries should be spending as a minimum.

NATO as a matter of fact saves its members a LOT of money. Without NATO, countries would need to spend more.

And there is no requirement for cyprus to involve itself in any wars like Syria. If there was, they can send 2 intelligence officers as their contribution and they can work with the Iraqis in the safety of Baghdad making everyone Cypriot coffees which i am sure would be a bit of a hit.

Australia's Defence requirements for instance require expenditures in excess of $200 Billion. That is according to our defence White paper. so in other words, kiss Good buy Medicare, and Free education, as well as Pensions and Social security.

That is what Australia would spend on defence without ANZUS. That is WHY America is the cornerstone of our Security needs. America basically subsidizes our security to the tune of Billions every year much to the chagrin of Trump. it subsidizes Europe as well (Missile Defence Shield Cost $800 billion so far).

Ands don't tell me its unnecessary. for as long as there are ICBMs, there is a need for a Missile Shield.

America is basically, subsidizing Australia's medicare, pensions and Education System. Oh and btw, Americans don't have Medicare (Obama tried to bring it in) but Trump wants to tear it all down.

As part of NATO, Cyprus can also invest less in Security. It will be provided with all the intelligence applicable to the RoC that is necessary.
