SKY TV is SKY TV, it is the same set of broadcasts as you see in the UK, although you cannot get all of the programmes and you will need amuch larger dish. At least 2.7m on the west coast and larger inland and to the east.

Strictly, SKY does not broadcast to Cyprus so you will need to pay from a UK address, but satellite suppliers here can arrange that for you.

If you have any further questions, please ask.

As far as I'm aware, there are no Cyprus-based discussion groups about SKY, digital, or satellite TV.

As Svetlana mentioned, you need a large dish here to receive SKY. This is because the satellite signal that reaches Cyprus from the SKY satellite is very weak. And the further east you go, the larger dish you need. I'm in Erimi, which is on the way to Paphos from Limassol - you need a 3.2m dish and a sensitive LNB to get a decent, reliable picture.

Unfortunately, the BBC no longer uses the SKY satellite for its broadcasts. It now uses a satellite and the signal that reaches Cyprus is extremely weak. So you need an even larger dish if you want a reliable service. There is another discussion board at: http://easterncyprus.com/index.html that focuses on the eastern side of the island that may be able to give you more information.

:D Our developer is offering a satellite package consisting of a digital receiver and 1m Dish with offset LNB. What channels can we hope to receive in Peyia.

Hi Dawn & Steve,

> 1m Dish

You'll definately not get SKY!!!

To get a better idea of what packages are available, take a look at: http://www.titosat.com/

About 850 foreign channels but you will get BBC Prime and BBC World.

To be honest, we tried it for a while on the basis that ‘we don’t watch much TV’ but have now upgraded to a Sky system with a 2.7m dish.

BBC Prime has an extremely annoying feature of repeating the same trailer for the whole series of a programme. It sounds trivial, but when you have watch the trailer for a long-running series (Top Gear for instance) about fifty times and know it word for word the novelty of having ‘free’ BBC programs wears off…

I think you need a 3.8m dish for SKY 24 hour viewing
