Statue of 'Diana'.

Postby Schnauzer » Sun Jan 29, 2017 12:57 am

As reported in the 'Daily Mail'................Favourite rag of some members of this forum:-

"Princes William and Harry have announced plans for a new permanent memorial to their mother, Princess Diana, to be built twenty years after her death. The statue, is to be built at Kensington Palace where the princes were raised, so both William and Harry can see the new memorial from their apartments. The princes have already appointed a star-studded committee to oversee the project and choose a sculptor, as well as to raise funds for the project. Chairing the committee is former Private Secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who is also Prince George's godfather. Diana's elder sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, will also be on the committee panel. The sculpture is hoped to be in place by the end of the year, as well as a memorial garden, which work has already started on".

If the statue is to be a true representation of the 'Good Lady', I do hope that the 'Sculptor' (chosen for the task) will have the honesty to ensure that his talents reflect the moral standards of 'Princess Diana'.

It would be unseemly to present her lying on her back BUT, at least (if not prone) she should be standing with her slender legs enticingly apart.

I DO wish that some person in the 'Civil Departments' would advise those who are now about to become steeped in the processes of once again ramming the virtues of 'Lady Di' down the throats of the general public, that the unfortunate use of the word 'Erection' when referring to her statue be avoided.

The use of such a word immediately opens the floodgates to a host of 'Lewd Jokes' and (as far as 'Erections' are concerned) I am sure the good Lady had quite enough experience of them during her earthly exploits.

The fact that there will now be a 'Fund Raising' drive to pay for the statue is also something of an indication of just how little her own family thought of her, after all, she left a goodly fortune to the two 'Herberts' who have now decided to embark upon this money spinning enterprise.

There are those (myself included) who do not even know where their folks are interred, yet, have subscribed to charities and donated funds to worthy causes solely in loving memory of those departed and, whilst on the subject of 'Funding', I have seen a recent television plea to the same general public for donations of £3 to buy a hat and gloves for the freezing children of certain refugee camps !!.

Funny how the country can afford to clothe and equip thousands upon thousands of 'Military Personnel' from their 'War Chests' BUT, are unable to afford to buy a hat and gloves (and blankets) for the children which have become victim of the expenditure the country (making the pleas) distributed in creating the problem.

Let's have a memorial to the suffering 'Victims' of those who lost limbs thanks to 'Land-mines', forget about how 'Lady Di' trod the paths of those 'Mine Fields', you may be sure that SHE was never in any real danger as she was projected as an 'Angel'.

With her wings severely clipped in MY opinion, IF there is to be a statue for fools to mourn over, at least let it be 'Placed' rather than 'Erected', I DO feel sorry for her loss though, I thought I was in with a chance myself as she shagged her way through a host of suitors, actually, we were ALL in line. 8)
