Timber shop and question about Cape Pyla

Postby AceB » Mon Sep 04, 2017 5:42 pm

We're coming to Cyprus on holiday next month and I've been given permission by the boss to spend a day or so playing ham radio. I've got a small portable set up that can be fixed to a length of wood but I'm not sure where to buy it from. We're staying in Protaras so could someone suggest a shop in the area that sells something along the lines of 2m lengths of 1" square or 2x1" wood please, the sort of thing you'd find in B+Q over here.

Now I've been checking Google Maps for a nice spot and Cape Pyla looks ideal west of a large quarry, it appears to have some roads to it but I can't tell if it's part of a live firing range or has public access! Obviously the hire company wouldn't be over impressed if I got their car flattened by a tank and I'd rather not raise eyebrows by having some radio equipment on a military range so is Cape Pyla accessible for a visit?

Thanks for your help

Thanks GR, I'll drop them an email and see if they can suggest an alternative site. A local source for the wood would be good if anyone knows of somewhere?
