Government social welfare provision

Postby Yorkshirefolk » Sat Jan 14, 2006 11:36 am

Hi, i'm a new poster to the forum, but have taken many hints and tips so far!!!
I was looking to apply for a job in social work on the airbase at akritiri but want as many options as possible. I can't seem to find any information about the governmnets social welfare provision i.e. social workers, addcition service, domestic violence or youth provision. Does anyone have any tips for places to look or organisations we can contact?

Thanks................

Dear yorkshirefolk

There is very little Welfare State here; the Cypriot culture is for the family to look after its own, generally. There is of course Sate Health care and unemployment benefits for those that qualify.

Thanks, Svetlana. We're looking to move to the Paphos area and we're back in Paphos this June and are just trying as many options as possible.

You would have to be able to converse freely in Greek, if you want to do this outside employment on the British bases.

We're on with our 'O' Level Greek as we speak and looking forward to some more practice when we get out there.
thanks
