...does this imply service island-wide will soon be possible?

This project /.../ has a ten-year horizon

10 years has passed since I got a fiber connection in my home country (in a densely populated area, not even a 'city'). It looks like it will take Cyta another 10 years to offer a similar service to the village in Cyprus I belong to. Population density being highest in Cyprus, yet a span of no less than 20 years!

a major project whose aim is to create ultra-high speed broadband (optical and copper)

Are they serious at all?

Cablenet offers speeds up to 150Mbit, but they are available only in cities. Where I live it is not available and the copper connection to my home can not handle more than 20Mbits. I hope that this will be upgraded soon.
