Fatih out for an election win

Alanya 1 is located between the Turkish resort of Alanya and the Akamas cape, at a distance of 100 km from Akamas. The second drilling will take place in Finike 1 site, located 50 km away from Kastellorizo.

The first drilling will take place shortly before the elections in Turkey on 24 June.

...more of the same,

Ankara is continuing with its strategy of fueling tension in the Eastern Mediterranean, announcing its intention to send a second drill ship off Cyprus, while Turkish jets violated Greek airspace in the Aegean on Monday.

The announcement by Berat Albayrak – Turkey’s finance minister and son-in-law to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan – that Ankara will be sending the drill ship Yavuz to join the Fatih off the coast of Cyprus, came on Sunday just before on Monday’s launch by Turkey of its annual Sea Wolf military exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Sea.

rw of course erdogan will use it to win, and he is also thankful for anastasiades for affording him such an opporotunity. the real problem is not erdogan thought it is anastasiades. he has been told a zillion time by all concerned including the un that they cannot start drilling till either we have peace or he sits down and agrees on the resources with akinci. instead he says something woolly like he will give the tcs their share but what share exactly. just look at greece, they claim 97% of the sea and yet they have not started drilling, why? becasue they are not stupid. they understand what terggy will if they do. anastasiades thinks he can hide behind the american coreporations and drill but he will find out different. and stupid gcs will pay the price like in 1974.

stupid is stupid does.

...and yet it is thanks to Cyprus, Israel an Egypt speak, and that within this Energy Forum, even Palestine has a seat.

Where is Turkey but against this. Where is the Treaty of Lausanne? Never mind Zurich, or UNCLOS?

...out a window perhaps, because so says Erdogan?

...indeed, it is not about oil, it is about supremacy of the sea; in affect, Turkey (read: "Turkishness") against the world.

When will you wake up?

Turkey doesnt want peace and if you are Cypriot, you should be offended that Turkey is disputing part of our EEZ. Which is clearly Cypriot in all international legal forums.

You should also be embarrassed about asking for shares when you havent / cant contribute anything to it. When the TC political leadership refuses to compensate or provide restitution to the hundreds of thousands displaced from the invasion in 1974.

Like the GC's are asking for shares.......You thick?....get a life.

Without Turkish impositions on Cyprus, there would be no problem.

Cyprus has a Turkish problem. Its as simple as that.

Turkey has the same "Turkish" problem, it has come to this.

It is Cyprus, that will save Turkey from its "Turks".

interesting take on Britain's waning influence after Brexit.

...although given Britain's long History with Turkey, i am not so quick to discount the opportunities they have together, (despite the EU).

Whatever Turkey puts out there, will come back to her like a boomerang.

You reap what you sow. <--

This is a universal law, that works whether you believe in it or not.

I will leave you to think about their karmic debts that must be repaid and how they will repay them..

Same for the TC's as a community going along for the Turkish ride....

You cant reason with a third world arrogant ignorant.

...it is not just reason, it is inspiration that is needed.

New thinking is needed, where both parties see in change something better, completely different to their original positions.

...Cypriots, those Greek and Turkish, who are not "Greeks" and "Turks" must speak (and act) as Cypriots.

You will see RW.

The Turks will leave Cyprus in exchange for gas because they are going to need it.

The EU will get its gas from the pre approved israel - Cyprus - Greece pipeline. Not what Turkey thinks by being included.

The Turks will just become a consumer of it.

Turkey will become Cyprus's bitch.

All this show is not feasible for the Turks. At the end of the day, if they do find something and try to extract, it will be sanctioned and no one will buy it. I doubt they will find a thing.

Its a long line of poorly devised and executed stunts like this that is contributing to the collapse of the Turkish economy. Funds are being completely misappropriated for show while the country is on the verge of bankruptcy.....
