I am coming to cyprus in August landing in Larnaca and would like to hire a car and also to be able to drive north. Does anybody know any car hire people who would rent a car for both sides.

I don't think there is any because it a matter of law governing the Insurance of the car.
You'd probably need to rent two cars one for the free areas and one for the occupied.

What you need to do is to find one of your comrades that take taxijobs passing the border.
I met one at Hala Sultan Tekke that claimed he drove people from the north to such places to make ends meet. The next thing he told me was that when he visited the place as a kid, the stone was still floating in the air, but after a pregnant woman almosed collapsed from the unbelivable sight, the allmighty allah finally understood it was better to "fix it from underneath" to prevent further disasters. Moron! The conversation ended right there, so I never got his number.
