Hi A/Amvrosios

Better to put the zivania on the mosquitos!

Hi Chris

I know the location were you will be staying but not sure now, where you stayed before. Mail to the UK will take about 5 working days; 31c stamp + air mail sticker.

Hi Lana

We stayed at 34 Agapinoros Street-THELMA-COURT which according to your earlier reply was near St Geroges Church.

If you could give me some brief directions to Ptolemaidos Street, with say my back to the castle, that would help give me a sense of location. Alternatively if you know a good map site that would show the road that would be useful.

I'm just trying to get some idea of the atea we will be staying so i can picture it in my mind. I can recall the main road to the market, past the tombs and also the road that runs parallel to the beach which had some building work being done at the far end, away from the harbour. I think also that it bore to the left and then out of town.

Thanks for the info on post.

Right form the Castle, take the road towards Kato Paphos (into the old town) at the first set of lights turn right and second set of lights turn left, about 200m up turn righ by aniva Garden Centre and you are in the right road.

Five minutes drive from the Castle.

I no longer think you were near St Georges Church.

The Church you stayed near before, was this a very ancient one with ruins next to it?

TonyC

Thanks for the link to the map.

Success, have found Ptolemaidos Street.

Using the map linked to I have found Agapinoros Street (coloured yellow on the map) where we stayed before. It runs more or less parallel with the main road from the harbour to Paphos Town. I remember we used to walk up to the top to get to the market.

The Mayfair Hotel & Mayfair Hotel Apartments are on that street.

I think the church must have been Agia Marina as that's in the area. The Elementary School, in Ikarou Street, is on the corner.

By the the map we are only about four streets away from where we were before. At least I now have some idea of where we will be.

From memory it's only a short walk(toward the beach) to a whole load of restaurants including one where I think they did Zorbas Dance every night and even danced out into the street, not that I every tried that.

Opposite that was another restaurant we used a few times which was quite good and not too expensive.

Our friend, female, will be pleased that we aren't too far away from the M& S store. She has been pestering me for days to find out where that is which from what the agent told me is on the main road into Paphos Town.

Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.

If I think of anything else I post back.

Fingers crossed now that we will get some sunny days and feel some warmth in our old bones!
