I explained what happened to me as I was innocently driving along and then I was followed by a marked and unmarked police car. I was expecting them to get their guns out next. It was very intimidating for anyone because if you get pulled over by 2 cop cars, the last thing you think of is an RBT or traffic violation. I thought that they might have mistaken me for someone else.

Then, a camera crew was in my face. Therefore you actually think you will be on the 6 o’clock news as well.

That is a lot more than me reacting to a most unconventional and weird situation. Me calling them an arsehole is the least of it. Plus they deserved all the disrespect I fished out to them because they disrespected me.

My passenger got out of the car and there was yelling to get back in. We both thought we were in serious shit. We both d

I’m not heated.

I just stand on my principles. To me, that is a measure of one’s character. But that’s just me.

I am also very prepared to accept the consequences of my actions. One should be very proud if their actions are principled and Honourable.

Ok, maybe I misinterpreted “get your fucking camera out of my face arsehole” as heated :D
I agree, morals and principles are a measure of character and should be consistent every day in a persons actions
Nobody is perfect and yes, we should all accept the consequences of our actions. Always better to stand back and reflect on both sides of the story too.

My passenger got out of the car and there was yelling to get back in. We both thought we were in serious shit. We both decided to not answer questions or play their silly games and if need be we can get our lawyer out. Give them nothing. Not when they behave like they are about to shoot us up.

They were the ones that were heated but they were playing to the camera to make it look more exciting or “dangerous”. It was all staged like in a movie. I was not impressed one bit.

That’s not being heated. That is just being a normal law abiding citizen that will stand up for themselves. Just because they are police does not place them above the law or give them licence to scare the shit out of citizens and mistreat them like this.

It does seem over the top if all they wanted was a random breath test. Unfortunately most police officers do have a high level of arrogance, must be a pre requisite of the job  what were they doing with guns? :o as traffic cops :o

Of course you should defend yourself, but they don’t see it like that.

I’ve been in the US on the Las Vegas strip where they film a lot of incidents for Tv shows and it is funny to watch some of these clowns and they get aggressive and the cops make a big drama of arresting them. There is always a big crowd of people stood by watching it all kick off and the tv crew filming. Ive watched drivers try and break the camera crew equipment and go absolutely crazy.

I’m not sure if as a driver we have the right to say they can’t film us. I guess different rules in different countries. The drivers in the UK that are filmed for these shows are actually appalling. They are the ones that deserve to be taken off the road as clearly dangerous. I’ve never been pulled over as a driver. Saying that it will probably happen now :o

They didn’t want a random breath test. That wasn’t there core objective anyway.

Firstly, my mate and I were trying to work out what we have done. We were looking at each other asking silly questions.

The police wanted video footage and they were orchestrating a scene for a TV production.

So no, it wasn’t an RBT. It was a total disgrace on their behalf and a complete PR fail because I wasn’t prepared to play along in this stupid set up.

They get nothing from me when they play these games, and I don’t care if I go to the slammer over it either, because it wouldn’t even stick. They would have bitten more than they can chew and in the end they would have been embarrassed in court if it got there. No way in hell any judge would have tolerated these antics. Worse case is the judge would say that I shouldn’t have refused a sample and he might give me a small fine, but he would absolutely go to town on the coppers for bringing such a stupid case to the courts, and he would of stated that my request to them (to remove the camera) was a reasonable request.

Can you imagine the headline? “Man arrested for refusing an RBT in front of TV cameras” It would have been a huge laugh and they would never be able to air it either because my demands were reasonable requests. They would have looked like idiots not me. I would have got off too and they knew it.

No one is going to defend them for doing this. We literally thought we were going to have the police come up too us with their guns drawn like my mate and I were some heavy duty mafioso or something.

So their core objective was a breath test or not? I don’t think it would ever get as far as going to court anyway. I still don’t get why traffic cops get guns :o that is extreme! So how did this situation conclude?
Did they film the bit where you told them to take the camera out of your fucking face?? Even then that’s not a crime as such  imagine seeing yourself on tv getting arrested :o that’s too much!
You aren’t having much luck lately are you what with lasers and guns :o

No it didn’t look like their core objective was the breath test.

It looked like their core objective was lights, camera and action and at my expense as an unwilling participant.

This stuff in my opinion is very questionable and makes their law enforcement a total debacle. They were playing with complete legal grey areas.

Yeh it happens in wonderful Australia. We have stupid programs like this in Australia. There are some people that get of on seeing people get into trouble with the police. If I was intoxicated and made an example of, it would have made it on TV which is quite despicable in my opinion. But some people think this is entertainment.

You can also give them a bit of stick in Australia and we have a legal system that protects us from any nonsense as well. A functioning legal system and there is an ombudsman that looks into matters like this.

In other words, Australia has functioning institutions and a functioning judiciary. In Cyprus you nearly go bankrupt and no one will look into it to find out why.

The other day when I got lazered, there were also 2 Polair choppers looking for the kids that did that within 2 minutes. And if they got caught they would be answering to Federal Charges - and go to jail as well.

Does that happen in Cyprus?

I’m this close to cutting your puppet strings Paphitis… :?

The next time you run into cops I expect you to behave in an orderly manner and see it through as quickly as possible with no incident whatsoever.

There are no excuses for behaving like a juvenile delinquent.

Oh ok. Getting pulled over by a cable TV camera crew is ok in your opinion.

There isn’t anything juvenile about not wanting to be the subject matter on National Television. I consider this my right and I have a feeling a judge would definitely agree with that.

Even if I was drunk and breaking the law, I have a right to my privacy and you are still innocent until the courts deal with you. The camera crew takes that presumption of guilt away from you and that is deplorable.

You are being judged by people sitting in their lounge rooms eating pop corn. I don’t agree with this one bit and I stuck to my principles as a mature adult should.
