Paphitis might be a TV star

Postby Paphitis » Fri Nov 16, 2018 5:21 pm

Got pulled over by the cops this evening.

There were 2 cars behind me, one marked and an unmarked car as well with lights on from inside their windscreen. I was trying to think about all kinds of scenarios.

Then a camera crew jumps out of the unmarked car and they point a huge light and camera in my face. At this point I am just a bit stunned.

Cop then comes to my window, asks for my licence and tells me I am stopped for a random breath test. I sai=d sure, I will comply, but get the fucking camera out of my face arsehole!

He said that the camera was filming him, whilst it was pointing at me all that while.

I told him I don’t want to be filmed.

He asked me to blow in their breath machine. I told him to get the camera out of my face and I will give you my breath analysis.

He then accuses me of refusing to supply a sample.

I told him I will provide a sample if you pull the camera out of my face,

The audacity of these bastards

Thanks for letting us know… at least we’ll know why you’ve gone absent for a couple of years.

They were not impressed with my language but in the end I think they knew they hit a raw nerve with me.

They can’t just arrest anyone for no reason and if they did arrest me for foul language or refusing a breath test, the judge would have crucified them because they were shoving a camera in my car.

It was really invasive.

In turns out it was one of those TV RBT cop shows where they film pulling over random cars.

This stuff can have detrimental affects on people and they were trying to stage the whole thing and make me look bad.

I had nothing to drink either so they new I was sober as.

After the entire ordeal, a lady from their legal department came to me to brief me about it and that none of the footage would be used. I said it better not because I will get many lawyer on to this. I threatened them with legal action.

I told them that this was completely incredible and that they were out of order.

I disagree. I was not alone in the vehicle.

They made themselves look bad. I was in my own car and I am happy to provide a breath sample, but wasn’t happy with being ambushed by a TV crew and I don’t think I am alone there either. It was a total invasion of my privacy and they way they spoke to me was just terrible.

I never gave them any sample until those cameras were out of my face.

Is it against the law to film in a public place in Oz...?

Paphitis, I’m quite shocked that you got rude with cops… if you had nothing to worry about or hide then why couldn’t you be more courteous?

Surely you’ve heard of police stings before… they have their use!

No it isn’t, but they were filming inside my car and against my will.

They said it was a public space as that was their exact argiument, so I told them I won’t provide a sample until the camera is out of my face. So there were threats made but I stuck to my guns on that and was prepared to get arrested over it and have my day in court for it too and they knew that.

My argument was that my vehicle isn’t a public space and it isn’t open to the public - my argument.

I wasn’t that rude. I was as courteous as can be expected with a camera crew and lights in my face.

I didn’t have anything to hide and they quickly realised that. They can tell very quickly if you are intoxicated.

Although I could detect that one of the coppers was getting very frustrated with me and probably wanted to arrest me but I think they thought to themselves that it wouldn’t have gone down too well in front of a judge.

As for them filming… if they’ve got nothing on you then it would be a useless recording for them anyway and they wouldn’t use it in the final production.
