No, I’m not.. but they do have an important job in terms of accident/emergency/illness/death etc
They are harshly stereotyped considering the intense training and knowledge required :o

Yes, their training is intense and I seriously doubt there would be many on this forum with the right stuff to be able to do such a job.

When people start making sexist remarks about that profession or mock the so called stereotypes, it is because they like to put these important people down because these people live a lifestyle they enjoy and are trained to a level that deals with major accidents, and mass death situations.

When something bad happens, these people can always be depended on for their cool heads under the kind of pressure no one on this forum will be equiped to deal with.

I go the Simulator Centre for my checks every 6 months and in the same facility, they do their checks too. Fire training, swim tests, water landings and crashes, medical training, hypobaric and hypoxia, oxygen, jackets, emergency evacuations, escape slides, emergency exits, problem and violent passengers and conflict resolution and negotiation and things like that. It isn’t for the faint hearted.

I wouldn't mention that here if I were you... Paphitis had a stint as a stripper when he'd be delivering what they called Koala-Grams to little old ladies in Sydney suburbs.

But it's a hush-hush here on the forum... :?

The problem is they are only seen as waiters/waitresses :o their lifestyle is very enviable because they get to travel the world and the people that mock them can probably only dream of doing that.
In most jobs, a person can be technically and academically qualified but that doesn’t always mean they are the right “person” for a job. Cabin crew need all the right personal attributes too as you say to be good at their job.
Friends of mine have had to deal with a death onboard. Yes, they are trained but without the right personal skills, they wouldn’t be able to deal with that. Most people in let’s say, an office environment would totally freak out if their colleague dropped down dead next to them :o :o
And yes, not all cabin crew who are male are gay   my friends are a married couple (male and female) and there are a lot of married couples who work for the same airline.
If there is an incident onboard, the people that mock them would be the first to eat their words if they needed help!
What airline do you fly for Paphitis?

I'm not that vain but I made some life style changes some time ago as follows:

1) I am very particular about the foods I eat - I have a high protein/high fibre/low carb diet.

It almost borders with Palio.

2) I am a very regular attendee (almost daily) to the gym.

3) I also enjoy my bike riding, swims, jogging and my regular walks.

I'm just not ready to die or to stop doing what I do. I am very lucky to be doing something that I just don't consider to be work.

If I had to work for a living, well I don't know, but I could be suicidal... :(

But yeh, I might dabble in the occasional craft beer, or wine, or single malt.

I am very proud of my achievements so far. There is nothing wrong with being proud of any progress anyone makes, especially when it takes a lot of determination, willpower and hard work.
